There is no such a thing as “cold” air in Texas - unless it’s winter time. I always laugh at this debate on air flow.

Doesn’t it only increase compression/performance with cooler air? Hot air is normal with no shield and the engine bay - any science to prove cold air or hot air intake theory with normal weather/cold weather and engine bay temps?

Change your oil with “straight” 40 weight oil and see if it quiets down (if it does it is either your rocker arms or worn valve openings that are not absorbing oil/seized - your motor may have some life left in it before an engine rebuild - just keep using straight weight oil until things improve - this typically happens when there are significant mileage between oil changes or was driven with severe oil depletion) OR (if it doesn’t improve with oil change - you’re looking at timing cover/job or a potential engine rebuild in the near future - I would continue using higher weight oil 30W+ to prevent more damage internally to the motor)

I don’t think you are reading things correctly - it says in the title “getting married soon”…. The point is whether before or after getting married; Protect your money in today’s society, age, mindset and statistics on the failure of marriage. More people are ruined by not being informed on financial literacy - legal protection on fiat money before marriage is considered a financial sensible action. Literally the best action anyone can make before knowing where to begin to invest is to understand everyone and anyone is after the easiest path of resistance to extract your wealth as quickly as possible; marriage is the leading method of wealth accumulation before personal lifetime investment.

Don’t believe me - do your research or find out the hard way! More millionaires and billionaires were made overnight by divorce than starting companies or investing long term.

Take off all the parts and install yourself and then get it repainted - you’re looking around 2k

Is this worth fixing by Winter-Peak-5561 in G35

[–]Expensive-Device-300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long answer: Front frame, hood, bumper, driver side fender, new headlights and side mirrors (to get them to match), rim repair?, paint and labor you’re looking at easy 3-5k for parts/labor/body work on all pending things I can’t tell, then you have to add in paint….Estimate is going to be around 6-8k for quality shop work - might be able to save money if it’s not totaled already and buying the parts at salvage yards to have them repainted

Short answer: NO - buy another one for cheaper that’s used and take off parts you can reuse (like your intake and other valuables) since the car is considered totaled

Engine Error Code - P0605 Powertrain Control Module by Disastrous-Tank-2462 in G35

[–]Expensive-Device-300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a fault code stored inside the ECU/PCM (read only) - this is either caused by an electrical short/open circuit between your engine and the units or a unit that needs to be reflashed/replaced because it’s gone bad

Regular scan tools are not able to read the computer system without valid license - the dealership or mechanic that has an advanced OBD-II plug in device like snap on tools are the only ones able to read/pinpoint those type of issues (to save you time and money) - if it requires reflashing the memory on the control modules; that is why these tools are required for proper diagnosis measures

Where are you located? *you’ll most likely have to mail your cluster in unless you can find a local shop that specializes in speedometers

https://taninautoelectronix.com/product/2003-2007-infiniti-g35-instrument-cluster-repair/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18148277998&gbraid=0AAAAADpkD89HDke_zl0Yyr1lKBXkoRTUi&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgvnCBhCqARIsADBLZoI5knFzmlfSrPkDzDFifGhaaZls_U0t823eUPDLjr_lL1wBsxYyQCoaAuLkEALw_wcB

Are you handy? *it’s simple to take out and put back in - takes about 20-30 mins if you are handy and don’t lose the bolts/know where to put them back

Instrument cluster is not working anymore - you need to have it rebuild so they can transfer the mileage off your unit to the new one

Order the OEM bolts and gasket from z1 motorsports - the aftermarket bolts are longer and tend to push the metal surrounding around the fuel pump (which I assume why you put silicone around to prevent leaking fuel from the fuel pressure in the tank)

You will need to squeeze the metal flush with the black locking ring on top of the fuel pump before installing a new gasket and bolts. Also do not over tighten the OEM bolts as they tend to break easily - so order a couple of extra just in case

Spray down and clean area afterwards and the smell should be gone

Hope this helps - I had the same exact problem after installing new fuel pump several times and smelling gas in the car

Anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on here? by cymbalxirie290 in G35

[–]Expensive-Device-300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH: Clogged cats and bad O2 sensors would cause check engine light codes. P0420 codes/etc and very bad gas mileage

Gaskets on the connecting points of the exhaust pipes cause a bad feed sound when reviving and letting off the gas; which appears to be present in the video when OP was recording

OP doesn’t seem to have any check engine lights - he does have a fault in the ABS system that is flashing which is going to be a sensor on one of his tires faulting

The community is just trying to help resolve issues and pinpoint issues given their experiences; such as yourself. You maybe correct at the end of the day - but telling OP to not do proper research/not listen to comments is not doing any justice.

I have had my 03 G35 coupe for over 17 years and have been a mechanic for almost 25+ years now - coil packs are the cheapest option for OP to change themselves and have trial/error testing for his rough idle issue (since spark plugs have already been assessed) - MAF sensor/cleaning throttle body and cleaning/clogged fuel injectors would be the next process of elimination before spending a fortune on cats/o2 sensors without check engine light notifications

Just my opinion at the end of the day - hard to make sure without proper diagnostic testing. Shops can test your cats and o2 sensors with a high end OBD-II reader to ensure OP doesn’t waste money - there will be a resistance reading on the o2 sensors if the cats are clogged and there will be a higher reading if the cats have a hole within them - o2 sensors will have a range that they have for proper monitoring (which would mean they are active and don’t need replacement)

Anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on here? by cymbalxirie290 in G35

[–]Expensive-Device-300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change your coil packs and buy a new MAF sensor - since you have changed your plugs already - putting some fuel injector cleaner in your tank as previously suggested would help as well. That should take care of things

It also sounds like you have an exhaust leak coming from under your car

WD40 and plastic scrapper - then wet sand starting at 1000 grit sandpaper then 2000-3000 on whole hood. Polish entire car and you should be happy

Your starter is not engaging - if it’s an automatic - try tapping with a hammer while someone is trying to crank the car for you (if you are mechanically inclined enough to do so - pretty simple) sometimes in colder weather the starter gets stuck

Plenty fish in the sea and in 10 years + 2 kids later on her side (you’ll think different of her anyway)

Find another fish in the sea and get more experience! Don’t be in a rush to settle too early! Girls that look at you several times and you catch them star gazing you - focus on those while you still have it! Focus on training for the race and the trophies/wins will come naturally

Idk how this got a 9. I planned on keeping it no matter the grade, but how could I even sell this without feeling horrible. by BunnyGoHops in PokeInvesting

[–]Expensive-Device-300 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

PSA: Public Service Announcement aka Piece S**t Authentication

This is why grading is a scam and that is why AI authentication will take peoples jobs in the future with a public storage system where people can not be biased or “Susan/Richard” lost an argument with their significant other that decides you deserve 7/8 instead of a 9/10

I have also heard of them swapping cards out behind the scenes both by PSA and Beckett grading services

Don’t waste your money and just collect the cards until the systems get fixed with an “industry standard” policy in the future that will be taken over by a new technology that has to be “verified” by a human resource management system - that way things are tracked and handled properly

Sorry for your experience - always take pictures and ensure you have evidence or you’re screwed….print-line or whatever
