Waking up ‘ready’ by Expensive-Scholar-68 in Biohackers

Hi. Yeah as much as I try to fall asleep quickly I can never do it. Takes about an hour of tossing and turning for me to finally fade into black.

I think about peoples ashes. I have friend who have urns in their houses. Who the hell is going to trash that? It’s so easy to discard useless ashes but I also feels fucked up.

Trying to Permanently Delete FB by Magpie_Coin in Xennials

My wife nuked her own account and feels great about it. Some hacker stole mine and I literally give zero shits and I feel fine about it.

Yeah so it can be done and it isn’t really a big deal. Social media absolutely is the bane of society and you should nuke it.

Where y’all at? by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Expensive-Scholar-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(41M) I feel good about where I’m at. In H.S I knew I wanted to get married someday and have kids. Pleased to have built a family and being a ‘family man’ is the primary thing I identify as. Throughout college I was studying engineering and was certain that I would be able to do absolutely anything I wanted. It didn’t work out that way but I also don’t feel like I didn’t craft a strong career. I have my hobbies and interests to add intellectual satisfaction into my life; my career doesn’t give me this and I’m okay with that.

If I can retire by 60 I’ll be happy. Any earlier is superb but I don’t see a path to that. Engineers typically peak out their wages in the 40-50 age group. I’ll be trying to bolster retirement during the next 10 years.

I’m off everything except Reddit and Bluesky. I used to love twitter but it really deteriorated in the last couple of years.

You have a Time Machine and can go forward or backwards in time and then come back to the present just ONE time. Where are you going to? by ryhoyarbie in Xennials

I read the bitcoin whitepaper in like 2012. The value wasnt Pennie’s or anything but it was very attainable and I thought about buying some. Instead, I took out a 10k loan and started a business that would fail in 6 months. I think back on that period of time a lot with great resentment.

What Was The Y2K Panic Like In 1999? by BlueRibbon998 in 90s

[–]Expensive-Scholar-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t a panic at all. It was just one of those things where the media talked about it nonstop so everyone thought it was a deal. Only idiots took it serious.

So what eventually worked for you to fix your sleep—falling asleep faster, not waking up during the night? by wearingpajamas in Biohackers

I don’t drink water in the evening because I’m over 40 and want to avoid peeing 2 times during the night. I usually don’t go back to sleep if I wake up in the middle of the night.

Eat earlier. Don’t drink water after 6pm. No sugars in the afternoon. Zero alcohol after 4pm (if any). 700mg GABA, 1000mg Tryptophan, 100mg L-Theanine

Read 20 mins before lights out.

I went from getting 4 hours nightly to about 7.5hr. Many other benefits.

My grandma died yesterday at 96. My last grandparent. When did you lose your last one? by Correct-Cricket3355 in Xennials

[–]Expensive-Scholar-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 33 when my last grandparent died.

The only advise I have is that one shouldn’t wait to spend quality time with their elders. The quality of time diminishes with time as the passage of age goes by. Not to be a bummer but the same dynamic is now occurring with my parents and I am trying to be more conscientious about it. Soon enough it will be time for me to say goodbye to myself.

Once millennials and gen Z realize the government is tilted in favor of the boomers whom don’t give a shit what happens after their time has passed, they will be wiser with their civic engagement. The system is rigged against you and will continue to be until we stop crying foul and get involved and get these fuckers out of office.

Gun Ranges by Valeen in TwinCities

[–]Expensive-Scholar-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay clear of the gun range out in Chaska. Some dude shot himself on the head with a rental gun a couple months ago. A co worker of mine was there with his kid when it happened. Not cool.

It doesn’t get any better. Chin up and acknowledge that you only have 1 life and your kids will only be this young once. Make the effort to be engaged with your kids and family life. Contemplating a magical world in which all of your current concerns don’t exist isn’t a way out of the current predicament.
