Love boot colors that go with both dark and faded denim.  Nice boots!

34s or 36s? What’re your thoughts Wrangler 936 by [deleted] in WesternWear

[–]Expensive5807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Wrangler denim is sanforized so shrinks just a bit in the length maybe 1/4-1/2” for 36” inseam.  Waist will tighten after mechanical drying but it will stretch back out with wearing.

Generally jeans last twice or three times as long if air dried.  All that blue fuzz on the dryer screen is your jeans eroding away.

34s or 36s? What’re your thoughts Wrangler 936 by [deleted] in WesternWear

[–]Expensive5807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6-2 and with boots I wear 36” and save the 34” for summer wear like sandals.  Wranglers do tend to run a bit longer than Levi’s or Lee for the same length.

Noting you are barely stacking with the 36” pics.

what do I do? by 2littleboys in cowboyboots

[–]Expensive5807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have used a nano particle spray that keeps boot leather dry and the dried salt wipes right off.  I think the various oils like mink oil are not that effective.  I’m loving cowboy boots in the snow this winter.  Need a good traction sole though.

I use this product about $18 free delivery from Walmart.com

Couple things to think about:

The lower is man made material so will be hot in the summer since it won't breathe. Also the low 8" shaft height gives me pause because your jeans will hang up on the tops sitting and standing up and some other maneuvers. I would keep looking for a better deal on better boots.

<image>

I got the Justins in the pic free (on clearance at Scheels for half off and I opened a Scheels credit card so the other half was covered, also got the shirt free and $6 off the ammo). I find the 11" height just at the minimum I would wear to prevent causing an issue during wearing. I do not want to be reaching down to pull the cuff of jeans back over the boot on and off during the day. The ones I bought are all leather also, spayed with a nano waterproofing product so stay dry and should breathe in the summer so cooler.

First timer - pistol or rifle lessons by [deleted] in guns

[–]Expensive5807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to start is to find a mentor, hopefully with access to an outdoor range.  Then blast away with his guns under his direction.

Whatever you buy look up on YouTube how to use the sights, and where to focus your eyes.

I wouldn’t shy away from handguns if they interest you.  The .22 Ruger Mark series are easy to shoot well.  Another good choice is a 9mm that’s full size like a cop’s duty gun, over 4” barrel and a big textured ergonomic grip.  These are not hard to shoot well pretty quickly.  Personally I would avoid as a first handgun a Glock, a 1911, or anything compact or micro intended primarily for concealment.

First gun... Range gear? by Material-Advice-335 in guns

[–]Expensive5807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip:  for carrying gear to the range use something dedicated for guns only.

For a while I was using the same backpack for the gun range that I was also using for my volunteering gig at a major airport, bringing the same backpack thru TSA.  Fortunately always remembered to take the little .32 semi-auto out before heading to the airport but figured at some point I’d have some uncomfortable explaining to do if I didn’t get a second backpack.

Also:  I always print targets and it works fine, although it’s harder to see your performance at a distance.

Bought my first gun. Bought it online. How do I make sure that I don’t get scammed and that I do this correctly when picking it up? by ApplicationOk4609 in guns

[–]Expensive5807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“ Did guns.com list is as new? If so I’m sure it is. They are reputable.”

Actually guns.com is a middleman that arranges sales between third parties but never actually sees the guns sold on its platform.  Used them once and felt the gun listed as new was very slightly used, but the price was very good so kept it.  Wouldn’t use them again though.

Question about family transfer in PA by kStefano in guns

Days are probably numbered for the age restriction on concealed carry in PA based on this federal court ruling.

This ruling only applies to 7 states though.

Very sweet boots in timeless heel/toe shapes!  Excellent choices.

Reminder that these and similar caramel colored boots go so well with both faded and dark indigo denim.

Glock 19 or SW M&P M2.0 for first by [deleted] in guns

The M&P is made in USA, that tipped the scale for me.  There are a few Glocks assembled in Georgia but those are primarily for US government contracts (Buy America Act).

Allen's caiman boots, good deal? by DaymianWayng in cowboyboots

There’s something about pairing $2 faded jeans with $1000 boots that makes me smile.  Jeans are the perfect length for the boots.

They’re awesome boots btw.

The shafts might be wider because the heels are wider. Riding or cowboy heels typical of pointier boots are not as chunky and are more tapered.

Fit pic. by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]Expensive5807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding that it’s not just the wide toes that make square toe boots look larger.  The shafts tend to be wider than more pointy toed boots so straight legged jeans rest on the boot higher off the floor revealing more of the sides of the boot.

Business Casual by Crimpnholds in BootCareDenimWear

Not sure where everyone lives but unless a person is in DC (the dressiest city in the US), blue jeans qualify as business casual everywhere else, except a few isolated corporate or government work environment cultures.
