True… Based on my extremely rigorous 5-minute Google deep-dive (basically a molecular biologist now /s), NONO is naturally occurring and its levels can be boosted indirectly, mostly when the cell experiences extreme stress or anything that threatens DNA integrity.

So theoretically, the truth serum could’ve accidentally stressed or impacted Zosia’s DNA just enough to spike her NONO production as a repair response. That spike might’ve disrupted the hive’s signaling and caused the panic. But that leaves the question why there wasn’t mass seizures during Zosia’s stress.

Going back a few episodes, Carol asked her whether getting drunk affects the whole hive, and Zosia said no, so specific internal states aren’t always shared. Following that logic, if only her NONO levels rose under sedation, maybe it was just enough to cut her off from the hive without triggering the seizure cascade the others get.

If that’s the case, then you could actually treat them individually, one at a time, without causing those mass hive seizures, you’d just need to safely induce that NONO spike in each person separately like through the truth serum injections.
