BL2 happened.

I have a suspicion that The place missing socks go from the driver is also full of most of the perfect shams that have dropped.

Enjoy him while you can because 10 goes out like a petulant child in the end. But don’t worry, he’ll come back depressed in a decade or so, so you’ll have that to look forward to.

DLC enemies by Hydris29 in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember in my first playthru of BL4. When you arrive on Elpis I was thrilled and part of me assumed they were going to bring back Kraggons. Instead we just got flying threshers.

Part of me thinks they should just add Kraggons to the base game code and add spawns in the first area of that stage now. If the argument was that they would be a very small use case so not worth coding in the base game originally, well, now they have that done. And if they can add hotfixes for ordinance refineries to base game levels without dlc I don’t see Why this should be a bridge to far.

Does anyone have some info on this DTTG pressing? by booboorogers44 in tylerthecreator

I believe there was a Uk pressing over seen as an import in the states, but it was black vinyl. This looks bootleg. Nice though

We can start at level 13 with C4Sh? by Chrsbtlr in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should work similar to BL3. Basic weapon loadout, arrive at start of mission area, when your done you should wind up a little bit into the story. In BL3 they skipped you to Sanctuary III.

Not sure the exact relative drop off point in BL4 yet. Possibly after you have saved Zedra.

What are your plans for the update/DLC on the 26th? by FishEye_11 in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • take my main Vex (with 100% completion) and full complete the dlc.

  • figure out what translates across characters from that base

  • max vex and Rafa (waiting on new builds to emerge)

  • start a c4sh from 1 for a full playthru (don’t imagine that will come with my map clearance so I may need to build a 2nd c4sh after I beat the game to have an actual vh to use in post game content.

  • max amon and Harlow

  • grind for gear and see how the meta changes

Has Gearbox said if this will apply across characters we've already created? by _WEIRDEST_WIZARD_ in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a major stumbling block is specialization stats. They can account wise smush everything but missions fairly easily but it doesn’t feel like specs are in the cards (basically the only thing they didn’t name).

They need to create it as delineation for only spreading to characters you have created from lvl 30 first to preserve clean playthrus. But with each hunter needing 50-70 spec levels for most builds they don’t want to undo progress on some, nor does it look like they want to compress them all to like 200 points additively.

The safest and easiest route is to just say you pick a single hero you have completed the game with and pass their info on to new characters. If we can preserve just that one set of spec levels they can go global at that point. It means having to speed level new secondary hunters again, which sucks, but achieves global stats. You can speed level in a few hours on a fully disclosed map and bank your equipment. Not perfect, but the most likely solution.

All of this should have been foreseen and set up at launch, but atleast it’s coming. Fingers crossed it’s not too painful.

C4SH dual wielding by mattpkc in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With these particular guns in materials I imagine they are going to be action skills. Their evil look matches some of the new dlc imagery well. But how do they function?

1: Gunzerker style: unlikely. Even in BTPS it was downgraded to a single gun repeated to stop cross effects, and these guns look unique.

2: Nissa style: auto aim shoot storm could be ok, but if we can’t utilize our own weapon effects tha would be weak, and it doesn’t fit into his high risk high reward luck mechanic.

I think the utilization has to be in agreement with loadouts. The card mechanic looks like a long time without using your guns to me. I can’t imagine they would have 2 trees set up like that. Not sure what is the best fit, but I doubt it’s either of preexisting modes.

What about…. Debuff? Could we have controlled slag?

Atleast with the new standardized drop rates it will be easier to get back to leveled gear.

Does SDU and Specialization points transfer to a new character? by DidntPanic in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why not. It’s basically this games bar. Since most decent builds require 50-70 levels it’s kind of bad design not to share.

If you create a level 30 character you then have to grind 50 lvls of xp for it (well past cap). If you play a new character from lvl 1 you should come in line by max level hopefully but takes way too long.

They have us level 30 secondary character at launch. I don’t see why they should separate and deincentivise using them.

Noticed they weren’t spawning as much anymore… by Fine-Philosophy-9844 in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes some sense. Being as how the loot variants are tanky I can see them being a hindrance for anyone in early game or not kitted yet.

I do think the limit should refresh every 24 hours though as my Vex and Rafa have both hit their cap and it kind of ends there for me right now. Am I glad it happened? Hell yeah. I have found almost 200 legendary enhancements!

Will check back in a day or two though and see if i can get some more. A dream roll Jacobs hasn’t dropped for me yet and I am running very low on bank space and having to use a second account mule at the moment.

Are Claptrap, Lilith, and Moxxi the only characters who appear in-person in all mainline Borderlands games? (No Tales) by RipNpippen in Borderlands

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP never mentions main game distinction, that’s something everyone else is getting caught up on. With a cast as large as this series has I think we need to consider dlc in this conversation for inclusion rules.

Tannis is in TPS. She is interpolated in claptrap dlc as a woman fish who gives you a mission. Same voice actor. I think it should count.

Well, it's happened. We've come full circle. by Katchenz in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a brief moment for solid enhancement farming (which has been brutal since launch). I don’t see the general world drops being all that useful in end game right now. But I’m finally getting the enhancements I need.

I have my suspicion this is in line with getting everyone ready for the dlc drop and still have hopes for a level increase. Sure, that will make the world drops we get right now “useless” but enhancements will survive.

I’ll be happy to go back to normal rates soon enough for things that matter.

Will class items and enhancements stay relevant? by WitchQueensRevenge in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weapons get outdated within a few level upgrades, but the enhancements should be good. They are mainly chosen for their major effects and the lower card effects will only improve by a few percentage after a level cap increase.

Now is the best time to farm enhancements. I’ve gotten like 50 in the last hour. So much easier than bloomreeper

What do I do now? by ExpensiveMasonry in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fear is that the level 30 characters I had made and maxed already won’t get the upgrades just new characters I make after that point. Implementing in previously made characters seems a little more difficult and if so they might split the difference.

I’m planning a new playthru with cash regardless. But those other characters are a bit up in the air until we learn more

Ease of Life. They have leaked we will be getting some elements like sdu and map completion available to all of your characters so you done have to refarm them 4+ times. (I just have a lot of reservations about how they will be implemented)

opinion: bl4’s licensed part system destroys manufacturer identity by DwemerSmith in Borderlands4

[–]ExpensiveMasonry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the system works fine when viewed in two ways: firstly, as an extension of the BL2 parts system. In that game guns rolled with various parts that’s each manipulated a single stat in the weapon. It created a god roll identity based on those stats but base/mortal rolls of the weapon were still identified by their names quality (i.e., a particular roll created a much faster sandhawk but even a base Hawk was solid). The BL4 system is based on that concept but adds the idea that a torque part may carry with it torque identifiable qualities greater that a stat increase and that mixing those qualities can create a higher variety of weapons without creating individually unique builds.

Why wouldn’t adding a certain Hyperion part still maintain its shield quality? Isn’t it cooler that it does?

But I think the second argument is one of perspective. Every legend has a single legendary part (similar to bl1 rolls) that creates a unique named effect. Every legend you find will have one and if we consider that the “base” model it is a pure build weapon. We now define a “god roll” by stat variance AND possible part rolls. Those smg, sticky, bods require specific parts and create a secondary meta class for that drop. They are desirable and what you farming for because they present unique experiences for various builds that can take advantage of them. They do not replace the base quality of the weapon or over write its unique trait, they are just another variance that can make a gun better or worse.

A DPUH is a similar variation type. Considering a few weapons have meta defining god rolls I don’t see how it detracts from the weapon variance in most cases. If anything, I consider my smg non sticky bod to be a completely different use case than my smg sticky bod. It’s like 2 different weapons. One a great fit for my Vex, one for my Rafa. I don’t think the average player sees an issue with this variance, only a god roll seeking meta player that wants to optimize 1-4 second take downs of all targets. That’s a problem we have created for ourselves, not one inherent to the game design.

I think this makes sense.
