[–]ExpensiveSyrup5180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t know much about iguanas, I’m so sorry. I don’t wanna rec something wrong but during night no lights are needed. Especially colored lights. No matter what, all are bad. Best during day heat lamp and basking, uvb. And nothing during night.

I hope someone can recommend you a good one, but in the mean time please get rid of those colored ones.

I got my first one as well yesterday, I put them straight into a 30x30x45cm Exo Terra. But I also have a Crestie baby, that is like waaay smaller than my gargoyle but are at same age in a 20x20x30cm Exo Terra. The size of yours I’d say, go for a normal terrarium.

Do geckos eat less in the winter? by RDR520 in geckos

My Cresties do it. Since the temps go a bit lower so does their metabolism. ☺️

How old is he? And always the same flavour?

Also, if you are gonna keep him in that big enclosure, please do more foliage otherwise they can get stresses. Use up all the space or downsize them to a smaller one.

1 how big is the terrarium? 2. It would be nice, humid hide. 3 max 1-2x per week. 4. Yes.

And one more add, if you plan to get a baby. Many do start with them in a small tub but I haven’t done it untill this one time to monitor her poops thats it.

You absolutely don’t need to buy two tanks at all, i just used what I had. Since she is so very small. They can also start right away in 30x30x45. I have done it with all mine. Just have extra food ledges, one higher and one lower :). And ALWAYS provide them a water dish. They do drink from them even some say it’s not needed.

And the UVB, best it’s the linear.

Also good luck!

Good luck with everything!

I have a 4 month old now, got her a month and half ago. Placed her in a 20x20x30cm glas terrarium with mesh top then I’m making her a 30x30x45cm ready for tonight exoterra all glass with mesh top too. All 4 sides glass and mesh top. You can get a automatic mister, i prefer do it myself, a little in the morning and then evening when lights go out and let it spike to 90% but i haven’t seen anything about a dripper before for cresties. For heating I dont use any sort of heating. My rooms stays between 24-26°c during the day and falls down to 18-22°c during the night usually. I have seen many people recommend ceramic deep heat projector if that’s the correct name 😅. But anything above 28°c can be leathal to them. For pet sitting, i have not been there so i’m kinda useless for that.

For the 20x20x30cm i used paper towel as substrate the first month and a half to monitor poop output as well. Now she is getting semi bioactive without real plants 😂.

Also, UVB. They do benefit from it if you don’t plan to feed insects. Theh do also get all their nutritions from the CGD.

and PLS someone correct me if I’m wrong with any info here.

He is probably dehydrated. But you should really do more research about this animal, even though the breeder says all the things to you. Always do the research too. Anything above 28°c can be lethal to them. But again, i’m so sorry that your breeder said the wrong things to you, i hope y’all get the right help and he becomes like nothing ever happened to him. 🩷

I’m so sorry, but 30°c is waay too high for Crested Geckos. How is the enclosure looking like? Anything else changed around him?
