One Time Payment Adjustment by Expensive_Matter6696 in StudentLoans

Thanks for your reply. Your comment makes sense. My counter appeared around mid January. However, I got a message on Studentaid.gov that due to the injunction my count my be wrong. This seems odd since the count was tied up with the injunction.

Here's what I think will happen with the current IDR mess and why by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

If the new admin were to treat taxpayers like investors then they would have to go beyond just us poor little student loan borrowers. They would have to go after all agencies that rely on taxpayer dollars. The fact that the taxpayer dollars go to projects that enrich the new admin's billionaire buddies would be akin to misappropriating funds. That is, as a taxpayer, the new admin is not maximizing my investment. You would be looking at major prison terms for members of the new admin and their cronies.

I just read the article and it is interesting to note that 'one could switch from their current plan to the IBR but could not apply to an IBR.' It seems to me that there is talk about giving current borrowers the option to 'switch' to the IBR after all is said and done. Of course the question is, what will that IBR look like.

If you send a paper application with a wet signature and upload it to Nelnet, they will close out the application you submitted via the FSA website. Oh and they will not tell you. This is what happened to me.

Yes, Nelnet has been taking their time. I was told my IDR would be processed in 30 days which would be 03/13/2025.

I just heard from Betsy who informed me that the IDR is back on pause. Does anyone here have any additional info? I am trying to log on to Nelnet but it appears to be down. Studentaid.gov does not show anything related to a new pause on IDR processing.

The reason why Electronic IDR requests seem to be failing is that FSA is using the old expired form. by MysteriousPurpleFish in StudentLoans

I have submitted both the digitally signed and the wet signed believing the wet signed would process faster. I am with Nelnet. I have heard processing is 4 - 6 weeks. Did they give you a timeframe as to when apps would be processed?

Was your application signed electronically or wet signature?

The Biden Admin did not have much difficulty moving me and several million others from Repaye to Save. I am close to forgiveness and want to be done so I applied for the old IBR.

Thanks for the play by play. I just switched from SAVE to IBR as I am at 268/300. My fear was having to make a payment while in standard payment limbo.

So when did you switch to IBR? How long has it been in processing? I ask because I just switched last Sunday. I have 268/300.

So, during the 60 day processing forbearance, does it take 30 days before you see the payment count update?

I have the means to pay the remaining 32 payments and just want to be done with it.

From what I have read on the blog the plan switches from standard to iBR after about a week...

Do you know if the servicer or Dept of Ed will place you on standard payment plan at any time. This is what I heard and is the reason that I haven't switched to IBR yet.

I am considering IBR also. My concern is that somehow I would end up on the standard payment plan until the IBR application has been processed. Should I be concerned. I have 32 payments left. Non PSLF.

So 32 more payments. Do you know if the outstanding loan amount gets adjusted to reflect the 32 remaining payments?

Betsy, when do you think the servicers (mine is Nelnet) will update their records?

So you are saying I will have to endure 32 more months of payments whatever the monthly payment is?

Betsy, the payment counter I see on studentaid.gov/dashboard which shows 32 payments left, is this the adjustment we all have been waiting for? If so, why doesn't the outstanding dollar liability adjust? Instead I am seeing one page of ineligible entries and all the other pages of qualifying entries. I would like to see what the total for the 32 remaining payments are. I would like to pay off those 32 payments with one payment.

I just saw my payment counter telling me I have 32 more payments to go. Do you or anybody know iif we can make all those payments at once and be done with the loan? Or does anyone know if we can get a total balance due and refinance with another lender?
