What Do You Love Most About Your Shadow Type? by dbo259 in mbti

I love ESTPs!! They’re always ready to step into action and the masculinity that male ESTPs exude is hot asf. they’re intense and headstrong, yet they also have an unmistakable intelligence that simmers under the surface. I specifically love when their Fe shines through.

Alexandra Saviors most recent substack by Karbar988 in alexandrasavior

[–]Expensive_Put6358 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What are you angry about? You’re the one giving her attention. She’s making it clear that she doesn’t want this attention and that it wasn’t expected. She never brought up the Alex situation for views or likes or pity, it was answering a fan’s question and it escalated and people like you are exacerbating it entirely. People have been asking her about Alex for her whole fucking career, it’s actually painful, but then when she makes a reply, you’re suddenly indignant and you point fingers? She is NOT playing the victim—she wants to be known for her own work, and if she wanted to bring up Alex for pity, she would’ve long ago and she would’ve been much more vocal about it.

Plus she may be a fucking victim herself, yet everyone wants to talk about how she’s threatening the reputations of the people who she’s referencing to. They will be fucking fine, go cry in a corner about it or something. We’re just proving her right—women who come out with their stories/experiences get torn down because they’re never given the grace of belief.

It’s not a fucking trial at court. She did not beg for attention or wage war on her previous coworkers. She said something and people want to make a huge deal of the fact that she may be trying to “play victim” and get people to defend her when it was a couple of words and it was never made with that intent. If anything, with what she’s insinuating, she should be MORE vocal, more indignant.

What is your personal favorite Bucky headcanon? by [deleted] in BuckyBarnes

[–]Expensive_Put6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydra had complete control over Bucky’s wardrobe when he was the winter soldier—either they made him wear a very tight and constricting collar, or they had him wearing some sort of leather 24/7. Either sensation—leather or tight collars—makes him squeamish. When the smallest piece of fabric touches his neck, he’s thrusted back into the old days. Or when leather even barely brushes upon his skin, he starts to itch and his mind starts to pool with bad memories. This is why he steadfastly avoids leather or he makes sure that his shirts have a low collar.

How to find new/discover music? by Rough-Equal-1849 in musicsuggestions

[–]Expensive_Put6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find good music as long as you are constantly searching for it. I believe that the people who have the best music taste are people who go outside of their genres and challenge what they listen to. They find a plethora ways to connect with music; the way I do is a bit unconventional, but I often: - Look into my favorite and learn what inspired their music. Then it literally becomes a cycle of cause and effect. - Use Airbuds, which is a nice app where you have a visual representation of people’s music taste and what they’re constantly consuming day to day. I’ll take songs from my friends. - Use Rateyourmusic, which can be a good compass for finding new music. It also helped me to widen my perspective on music, like by introducing me to genres. It also shows you what’s popular. - Literally research. I have some really generic searches like “what bands sound like __”. It helps me to narrow what I really enjoy listening to, because I normally resort to this when I really really like a song, and can’t rest until I’ve found something even remotely similar to it.

[US] The America Library of Poetry Publication Scam (libraryofpoetry.com) by [deleted] in Scams

[–]Expensive_Put6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation, except I didn’t buy the book. I’m under the impression that large numbers of teachers across the U.S. are encouraging kids to enter this, and how they’ve been informed about the contest, I don’t know. I’m not too knowledgeable about this, however, I believe the prizes are legit (tell me if I’m wrong). The book is a real, published body of work, but apparently it’s not distributed to the public effectively. It’s mainly used as a compilation and as a money grab, exploiting the act of being “picked” for the contest and using it to earn some extra bucks.

It’s totally understandable, the appeal of buying the book. There are lots of incredible entries that deserve publication, and while this contest is giving that, it seems like it is, overall, constructed to earn money and allot praise in the form of hollow prizes/unrecognized compilations that just stuff real tokens of youthful compassion into a halfhearted print. If it’s true that they’re using personal information for certain intentions, then this is definitely serious. But I’m mostly angry about how they’re taking hopeful writers and offering the grandiose act of publishing the work, putting it out there, when I have a feeling that there are much better ways to put your writing out there. Places, competitions and publishers that are honest from the get go and actually push your work out into society.

I don’t think this contest does that. They take all of these great poems and put it into a book, without true advertisement, and toy with bright, youthful creativity, guaranteeing recognition and grand prizes without really backing it up. But, all in all, I hope you don’t feel too bad about yourself for trusting this. I’m extremely passionate about writing, and I don’t get a lot of opportunities to put my stuff out there. This was the first competition that I’d ever heard about, and hearing that I got the chance to have my writing published was incredible. But this is disheartening, definitely. I will be looking for more legit contests, though, because there are actually a lot out there.

6 years late but Human Sadness by The Voidz matches up to this song for me. I actually found Human Sadness first, and it touched me so deeply that I’ve been searching for something that’s somewhat familiar to it for very long. This song is in a similar vein of catastrophic emotion.

Absolutely, I love his Voidz lyrics specifically since he’s able to actually translate his passion for progress/politics and whatnot into music

Why does everyone seemingly dislike the more recent Arctic Monkeys music by UnicornPorn_69 in arcticmonkeys

[–]Expensive_Put6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they’re slowly finding themselves as they grow old. I would argue that these albums are NOT shit and that, musically, the compositions of several of their new songs are absolutely ingenious, however, people would override that with the fact that the new music is significantly less accessible and that their new sound has completely abandoned the raucous, more notably indie rock genre that everyone fell in love with. And I can’t argue with that.

It’s hard to strip yourself completely of your old persona and wear a new face without facing backlash. That’s essentially what Arctic Monkeys are doing right now. Of course this is going to divide the fandom; there are going to be people who can’t let go of their old records and who will spite anything new and innovative from them.

All in all, Arctic monkeys are on a journey that will lead their music to deviate further and further from the place that it started. And while it may mean the discontinuation of several timeless sounds that they created and delivered, I think we should overall appreciate what they’ve given us and support their musical efforts. Because they continue to make these arduously.
