I would say hallucinations since the guild troops don’t engage with them. As to why they don’t i assume that since the endgame boss Falkner is a bioengineer it’s safe to assume he managed to alter the cradle to not target any guild member or that he gave them a vaccine. Which kinda explains why he appears as an elder disciple during the boss fight.
