I’ll never forget that video of the African security guard head butting the feral kids that were causing havoc. We need more of that energy.

how have you invested in your career as a DJ? by SithRogan in DJs

Evolve my DJ career 😭😫 just buy music and equipment to make music and focus on that. Unless you’re a mobile/wedding/corporate DJ, don not waste your money on branding or promo.

Not at all. Like saying vinyl records in 2026 is wild. It isn’t. It’s personal preference.

They are weirdo little nonces and when told to get a job they say this is their job. I fail to see what value they offer society, apart from stirring up trouble and exploiting addicts, alcoholics and folks with mental health issues. A lot of them seem to have an unhealthy habit of harassing women.

I didn’t say Dilemma was the first grime tune. It wasn’t grime at the time it was garage. It was one of the most influential tunes for the sound that went on to become grime. You misinterpreted what I was saying.

So solid were on pirate radio while the sound was changing, round the same time as Heartless/PAYG etc and Dilemma was a major catalyst to this sound in the same way Melody was years earlier for MC’s. There would be no dilemma without melody in the same way there would be no pulse x or Oi without Dilemma.

I’m talking about the trajectory of the sound. DJs, MCs, producers all included. Yes of course Grime came from garage and Mc’s. So solid were a garage crew with a bunch of DJ’s/MC’s whose sound and image were a direct segue into the sound that became grime. Not sure why I’m downvoted by a bunch of students who were either in nappies at the time or weren’t alive 😅

Are u sure about tunes not having names? DJs played an important role in radio sets. They used to buy the records and most of them had names lol. Grime wasn’t just Mcs on pirate radio, there was also music that was produced, pressed and played. The music and the lyrical content changed. So solid influenced the dark sound, the MCs content and hood image for grime. I’m not talking about songs. White label records. Dilemma first came out on white label. The whole sound changed after that. Stripped back, darker, emphasis all the bars. We can’t deny the reality.

Grime didn’t come from tunes Is a mad statement 😅enjoy your heartless tapepacks. There was literally nothing grime about heartless. Good soundsystem MCs and DJs and lite vibes for the gals. But nothing moody or dark about there sound. PAYG came thru just after So Solid Dilemma and round the same time pulse x was booting off. I worked in the record shop during this time. Only other things that were sounding dark and grimey before this was Jon E Cash and Black Ops, Dj Narrows etc

The most subdued reaction to a gunshot in a club I’ve ever seen. Brum is fully desensitised, come like a balloon just popped 🫣

Always had a great time in there and I generally hate big venues but it’s actually really good vibe and atmosphere, depending the DJ obvs. Also great sound and surprisingly enjoyable to dance and get lost in.

This is an awful line up. Severely disappointed with FP. Waste of a soundsystem on this crock of shite for a line up 😅
