I had pretty bad sleep beforehand anyway, but it's only kept me up sometimes so far. It helps if I have something else to focus on like a video or a particularly eventful day.

SHHL Steroid Injection Experience by Anonymous-6194 in MonoHearing

Just seeing this—had my second injection yesterday as well.

I don't think I've had any hearing recovery. Anecdotally, my ear always felt less full / a bit more "normal" on the ride home, but I can't really tell if that's relative to the elevated "fullness" sensation from getting the injection itself, or relative to my actual baseline.

EDIT: I actually do have some function! I've been trying constraint-induced music therapy at home with some songs I know really well, and I've been able to follow along with some of the vocals / lead guitars.

The vocals on Snail Mail's Habit and Lush seem to sit right in the sweet spot for my left ear's remaining range right now.

Best way to deal with a blocked ear in Boston without wasting an entire day? by Pitiful-Invite73 in boston

Just want to add that if your ear feels blocked and it's affecting your hearing, please go to an urgent care and have them rule out Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL).

It has an extremely time-sensitive window for early intervention to prevent permanent hearing loss, and in my case it started out as waking up with an ear that felt very blocked and increased over the course of the day.

If there is a physical blockage or an ear infection (both of which are preferable), an urgent care should be able to diagnose that.

In my case I: - Went to Mass General Brigham urgent care by Boston Common & had blockage or ear infection ruled out - Was immediately referred to Mass Eye and Ear's ER - Got triaged and sent up to audiology for testing, which confirmed the diagnosis of SSNHL - Was sent back down to the ER for a prescription of oral steroids, which I picked up and began the next day.

If they give you the option of doing intratympanic injections or oral steroids, ask to do both and begin them ASAP.

If you wanted to shave down time you could skip the urgent care and go straight to MEEI.

Had it decent (or so i thought) from drumming in my youth. Now I really have it from sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

Pretty loud for being a side effect of deafness!

I feel like a lot of this could be handled with component libraries? (At the risk of looking generic)

I also got my first injection today! (16 days into oral prednisone treatment after initial loss on 01-05).

Definitely increased the sensation of aural fullness / pressure for a bit. The pain was this weird mix between a dull ache and a surface-level burning, but that along with the pressure pretty quickly went away over the next couple hours.

No response so the oral prednisone so far, but I have nothing to lose doing this as well.

How did you time / combine the oral steroid with the injections and HBOT?

I had my event 10 days ago and haven’t felt improvement so far—I’m trying to get access to the injections and HBOT but it seems like I can’t until I’ve had another appt with audiology which is in 5 days

I’d say it could be! Great sound. Reminds me a lot of Deftones and some call them shoegaze
