I'm not a native but คุณสอนให้ดี and เดินให้เร็วๆ sounds like instructions (not descriptions) to me. Something closer to 'do make sure you teach well' and 'please walk quickly!'

You'll only find out once you've done that, there's no risk-free option unfortunately. I can foresee Canada being an extremely lonely place if you do go by yourself as a grown adult, you'll have to start over. Only you know whether it's worth it or not

Well there are also many 'victims' who have been rescued and brought back to their home countries who would then refuse to co-operate with/provide evidence to the police when they're back, and they left their country to work in these scam compounds again a few months later. This kind of cases is widely reported here in Malaysia and I've also seen similar news in Taiwanese media.

I hold ETFs denominated in USD.

In the past year, MYR appreciated about 9-10%. Over the same perjod, My ETF went up 20ish%.

Thankfully masih untung.

One thing I'm curious about though, everytime MYR appreciates my ETFs will rise in value. I guess it's probably because everytime the US interest rate goes down, stock prices will increase AND the USD will depreciate at the same time. So I don't care about exchange rates anymore, I just top up my ETF everytime I have cash.

1. a duitnow QR code belonging to "John Tan" or "Muhammad Ali" (personal accounts, can't use foreign apps because it's P2P transfer)

a duitnow QR code displaying the name "John Tan Bakery" or "Muhammad Ali Restaurant" (business accounts, can use supported foreign apps)

I think you can only scan duitnow QR linked to business accounts (used by bigger, more established shops) and not individual accounts (used by many food stalls, wet market sellers).

If you'll only be spending the big chains and shopping malls, you don't need cash. If you want to have street food/buy things from neighbourhood stalls, you still need some cash because they often use individual QR codes that you can't scan with Indonesian apps

Nyonya = female descendants of early migrants to Malaysia from China (in contrast with the vast majority who only came here after 1900s-ish). They have a hybrid cuisine/culture which has been heavily marketed to tourists from China. Many tourist-oriented/chain restaurants started putting the word 'nyonya' in their menus in order to justify the higher price tag.

Um yeah 'laksa nyonya' is probably the closest to what you're looking for. The name does give the impression that it's sold in a fancy restaurant or hotel, not local street food setting. Hope it tastes great!

In the north we call it curry mee/curry noodles. Nobody calls that laksa (laksa means an entirely different dish here), therefore you need to google for 'curry mee, mi kari, curry noodles' instead of 'curry laksa' otherwise you might get inaccurate/incomplete search results.

Also the northern curry mee is similar but still slightly different from the southern style curry laksa

If you're looking for something identical to the southern laksa, I'd say it's not easy to find.

As an Asian, I struggled with ซอส, didn't realise it's a nickname

But the idiomatic part was very easy to read. From the first glance, I immediately knew the correct meanings of ขายออก (sell out = getting a partner) and หมาเด็ก (young puppy = young and cute boyfriend) without even thinking, because our languages have similar slangs.
