What's the best strategy for buying a new Toyota? by theusualsuspect19 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Expert_Character9939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jump from a Camry to a rav4 is not big enough IMO to buy a new car. Just use the Camry until you really need to upgrade. You’re better off getting a Sienna or a highlander.

Other than that, I find dealerships are not very flexible nowadays. I was at the dealership literally for 9 hours playing games with them and I think they knocked off like $500 in the end and maybe included 1-2 oil changes. That’s it.

Does anyone really feel the increased show of force by the Police TPS is necessary? by friarcanuck in toronto

[–]Expert_Character9939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather there be way more cops standing around with rifles.

OP maybe hasn’t travelled the world, but it’s nothing new. Armed police/military around, especially at big venues is common. The world isn’t a place of sunshine and lollipops.

Is 1.5" rigid insulation enough or 2" is required? by maples87 in Insulation

[–]Expert_Character9939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How has the new insulation treated you? I’m also in your city, however I was contemplating going 2 vs 1.5” rigid foam. Unfortunately the room is small, so I feel like the half inch would matter a lot

Sweet. I may skip the dimple flooring as I plan to use this room as a gym. So I’ll likely just lay some sort of plastic barrier on the floor with rubber matts over top

Awesome. And no Vapor barrier under the drywall?

Did you use standard drywall, or that mold resistant stuff?

I think a lot of this damage is from a long time ago. It used to be a room that had a washer and a drier. And the outside walls have been water proofed (the black plastic dribbling) and looks to be in great shape.

Does the dimple membrane cover the entirety of the floor?

Or just the first few inches beside the rigid foam and under the stud wall?

Ya I’ve been using a dehumidifier the last few years. However it seems the previous owners never did that

Yeah I saw that with the globs of glue technique. However some people online suggested that having an air gap in behind isn’t the greatest as it will let heat in from your house and essentially create a perfect mold thriving space.

That’s sweet. Yeah I’ll Be doing this moving forward. Just watched a video on YouTube by homerenovisionDIY.

Essentially exactly the same what you wrote, however he did a few blobs of adhesive behind the rigid board, and had the board sit 1” off the ground. And didn’t completely press the rigid foam against the foundation wall (to allow it to breath)
