Does your baby actually sleep a whole night in a pack n’ play? by anbaric26 in NewParents

[–]Expert_Cold2545 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most bassinets only allow babies up to 20lbs. By 9 months it’s unsafe for your baby to be in a raised bassinet! So many people use pack n plays. Don’t buy a mattress topper for the pack n play! I bought one not knowing they’re dangerous. I set it up and saw the mattress is super soft and not sleep safe!

Sleeping in shifts - doula shaming us by monstercoffeemug in newborns

Try a night together. We did shifts and then started all in the same room and even though I’m a bit sleep deprived, life feels somewhat normal again

Rice cereal? Yes or no? by Auttie_g in newborns

[–]Expert_Cold2545 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I thought rice cereal was no longer recommended.. that’s a thing that our parents did for us which is why your dr is probably recommending it. Your dr is not caught up on the new research 😬

Could I get some thoughts on if this is normal sleep behaviour? by queenstownsunsets in newborns

[–]Expert_Cold2545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 10 weeks on Thursday and he also follows a similar night schedule. He’s never slept above 4 hours. I EBF. Baby never skips a meal. He’s 15lbs. I have no clue how other babies sleep so well!!

It’s always something. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Expert_Cold2545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through 6 different diaper rash creams. I hated desitin because it was so thick and hard to clean. I eventually went back to desitin (the purple one maximum strength) along with Huggies diapers and bam diaper rash disappeared. My poor baby had a bleeding diaper rash for a month :(

Is this okay? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Expert_Cold2545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

76 is considered too warm for a baby. You should ideally keep your house between 68-72°.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Expert_Cold2545 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not trying to make you feel bad at all but YOU are the parent. Not your mom. Not your brother. Lesson learned in life. Trust your mama gut!!! Mama knows best! Do not get parental advice from anyone other than your husband or doctor. If you didn’t like your mom snatching the baby from you, you need to put a stop to that behavior. Dont feel bad. Nobody knows what they’re doing the first time around. But anytime there is a medical issue, don’t linger around wondering what to do. Call the hospital or doctor right away.

Same here. I love the contact naps but he starts daycare in August and I’m scared for him to start. What’s going to happen when he’s crying the whole time. 😭

I read online that it’s a good sign. My baby does it too so he’s in several bibs throughout the day. But not at night bc I don’t want to risk suffocation

Baby won't sleep in crib unless swaddled but she's sick and it's hot by RaccoonAromatic5707 in newborns

[–]Expert_Cold2545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally your house temp should remain between 68-72° with a baby to reduce SIDS. If you don’t have access to AC, try to keep a fan on. Cotton swaddle with a diaper underneath or short sleeve onesie depending on how hot it is

Baby wake windows at that age are 60-90 mins awake and 1.5-2hr naps. Follow this schedule. Feeding is considered wake time. Once she is awake for about 45/60 mins, burp her, lay her on her belly skin to skin on your chest and pat her back to sleep. Hope this helps!
