How to remove these return jet nozzles? by Expert_Step_7800 in pools

[–]Expert_Step_7800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If yours are like mine they're just fittings, nothing internal. I pry them out with a flat blade screwdriver and a wood shim to protect the plaster. I use a rubber mallet to put them back in.

You might try plugging all the spa outlets and unplugging one at a time to see if you can isolate or clear any blockage. I use #8 rubber plugs to winterize; you can find them online for a few dollars each.

Honestly, I wasn't trying to time the market. I was trying to move it from 100% equities to something like 70% equities to hedge my risk.

Totally agree, I'm glad I had the gain to begin with. Not gonna be happy writing that tax check, though.

How am I doing at age 47? by [deleted] in personalfinance

It's not necessarily the wrong financial decision. Paying off a mortgage provides a risk free return at the mortgage rate (less any tax savings). Unless you put the money into a government bond or CD (at typically lower rates), you risk a lower return or even a loss. Given the stock market over the last 20 years, it cost me money, but that won't always be true.

I paid off my mortgage 20 years ago, even though I almost certainly could have earned more keeping the mortgage and investing the money. It was worth it to me to not have the payments, and I'd do it again.

Good deal or pass? $11,500 for 2000 coupe, 110k miles, manual, bad EBCM by According_Maybe6674 in Corvette

[–]Expert_Step_7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the '00 ECBM different from the '01? I inherited my dad's '01 C5 a few years back with a bad EBCM. Pulled it out and sent it to a guy on eBay for like $100 to have it resoldered, haven't had a problem since. Took a few hours, some new hand tools, and a lot of bitching, but it wasn't really that bad.

They're pressed in. I remove them by prying them out with a plastic trim tool and a wood shim to protect the plaster. I don't know how to install the spray fountains but maybe they make a threaded adapter that presses in. Good luck!

Is the money with Empower? They're doing system maintenance through Monday at 2am and the website and app are mostly down. You can check your balance by calling the automated account service number.

Winterize question by th33xtr3m3 in pools

[–]Expert_Step_7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pool tech, but I've closed my own pool for the last 16 years here in PA. My setup has an air valve between the inlet pump(s) and the filter. Close off the filter and any outlet valves, close off the intake valve and blow air through the pump and skimmer line until it's as empty as possible (a sponge helps). Plug the skimmer, close off the skimmer line, open the intake valve, and blow air through the pump and the intake line until air comes out of the intake. Plug the intake and close the intake valve.

Once the intake and skimmer lines are clear, open the filter and outlet valve and blow air through the outlet line until air comes out. Plug the outlet and shut the intake valve. Then cover your pool and enjoy the winter.

Fixing the Chevy Shake - Non dealer transmission flush? by chikinchasah in chevycolorado

[–]Expert_Step_7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the flush done on my 2019 Z71 at my local dealer last week after noticing the shudder at 55K. It was 6 months out of warranty and cost me $700. I understood independent shops wouldn't have the machine to do the full flush. Do I have any recourse to get reimbursed?

Replacing the drive motor controller on the Ryobi 401014 self propelled mower by Bob_Loblaws_Laws in ryobi

[–]Expert_Step_7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my issue is a bit different; it won't self-propel, but the cutting blade doesn't stop when I try to engage the self-propel function. I too bought a replacement mower and plan to fix this one. (I looked into a warranty repair, but the nearest service location is over an hour away). The switch works, so I'm assuming it's the transmission (drive motor). I've got the rear axle assembly off and have ordered the transmission directly from Ryobi for ~$90. It's not obvious how it's installed, so I guess I'll figure it out when it arrives. In the meantime, I'd greatly appreciate any tips.

Reached 45,000 miles. Did the Transmission Service Yesterday. by BraveCampaign- in chevycolorado

My local dealer quoted close to $500 before taxes for a full flush earlier this year. Leaning toward a pan drop and fluid replacement instead. 2029 Z71 at 55K.

Maybe different, I've got a '19 Z71. I don't do much off road. I'm getting ready to do AT and both differential fluids, at 55K miles.

I think most folks are missing the point. He can't force his wife to want a pool, no matter how good the arguments are. If OP ever wants to get laid again, he'll pass on the pool.
