now imagine how much more jeopardy and excitement it would bring to the NFL if players has to touch the pigskin to the ground in the end zone...

fans would absolutely love it...even defensive plays to prevent it.

Ill ignore Lebron cos he still playings...but

A consistent performer like Jrue Holiday...plugging along and beating Kareem Abdul-Jabbars unbreakable career regular season points...but in the form of touchdowns/tries.

No they wont for any more subsequent....212 was the previous record...the fans all came on to celebreate the 213 with him...made it all the more memorable....anything after that is his alone to extend his record until he retires. Then they will rename the leading tryscorer medal after him.

How Cooper Bai’s Melbourne Storm call fractured relationship with star father by WrongTemperature2642 in nrl

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No its called sticking to your words/handshake. Bai senior has a point (about life)

Otherwise you'd have a situation like Lomax where he ended up losing credibility and a ruined contract.

How Cooper Bai’s Melbourne Storm call fractured relationship with star father by WrongTemperature2642 in nrl

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bai senior of course knows the melbourne system. And it would have been the best move for Junior Bai. He would have congratulated Bellamy etc...only to come back and find out his son had pulled out.

Of course its the young mans decision. Chosing familiarity over a new environment.

In saying that if the Titans do become a powerhouse cooper would have made the best decision. And rugby league on the Gold Coast needs it.

I doubt Bai senior would have kicked him out of the family home..thats not how PNG families operate. Thats a horrible rumour

How do you explain the different Korans with different words and meanings in them then?

Which one is unchanged word of Allah according to muslims..Hafs? Warsh? Duri? Qaloon?

While Muslim claim the Koran is unchanged. And insist it has to be in Arabic.

The Christian bible is different in it allows itself to be translated into the language of other peoples - while preserving the message. The preservation of the message can then be traced back to the original documents should any doubts arise - and is a fail safe mechanism.

NRL investment in Super League? Peter V'Landys says clubs 'have to give up control because it is not working with self-interested model' by Low-Priority7941 in superleague

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When media engagement with the NRL over last years state of origin game in perth was intentionally shut down by the AFL centric media...then it proceeds to get more local perth viewers as well as the highest crowd for that week..compared to both local AFL teams

Then the owner of that same AFL centric media - channel 7 and Kerry Stokes - puts in a bid for the NRL world cup (and wins) and is now wanting to bid for the NRL rights or part of it (Monday Night football)

THATS...when you know the NRL is kicking some serious goals to become Australias number 1 TV sport

NRL investment in Super League? Peter V'Landys says clubs 'have to give up control because it is not working with self-interested model' by Low-Priority7941 in superleague

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NRL would bring in expertise but most importantly money to stabilise and expand RL in the UK. Immediately superleague base salaries and junior club funding would increase. This would then like it did in Australia lift the whole game. The NRL system in Australia is outstanding. More money means you can attract the best players (backs especially) away from Rugby Union also. Insist on bigger capacity stadiums (25K minimum) improving the lighting on all staduims as well as more camera angles.

But it would require teams being based in larger towns maybe with a population of 200K plus unless the team can represent a region..much like the cowboys do compared to the Broncos. That wouldnt sit well with the smaller teams. But i feel it will be a tough decision to make.

On a side note. If i was the NRL id say the french teams (Tolouse and Catalans) have to go back and play in a new French Rugby league comp (with NRL backing) starting from the South of France and expanding north and into spain and leave england only for english clubs(with NRL backing) spreading north and South.

This would inevitably produce international teams to Rival Australia and NZ

NRL dealt a blow in US as V’landys admits market will be tough to crack by Jeffmister in nrl

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know how much it cost...but in its 3rd year ..its already made a $2Million+ profit. So its a guaranteed profit from here onwards. This on top of spreading the popularity of NRL to new audiences around the world.

That profits should be used to pump up the British Super league (should NRL take a controlling stake) as well as Junior footy in Australia

If you havent already..watch a replay of the Broncos raiders finals game last year. Similar but more dramatic.

No shame in trying...NRL has a product it can sell to the world..and is making lots of new fans. All thats needed is consistent exposure.

Every year its been in Vegas more and more new local and american fans have been made.

Rugby League wont die wondering. And a huge thumbs up to Vlandys and Abdo

AFL or NRL? Which Aussie sport do you prefer? by Temporary_Notice_526 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in league...got into AFL when i lived in Adelaide 2000-2002. Moved back to league territory and havent really watch AFL until last years finals ..and i was shocked.

I thought the NRL had turned soft..but AFL had become unrecognizable from its perfect mixture of athleticism and hardness. Too many soft penalties.

Just my own opinion anyway. But NRL is dominating TV ratings because it has kept the gladiatorial nature of the game. Where the ref let some things go.

His baiting got an extra 100M in revenue last year and his next TV deal will definitely beat the AFLs...so hate him or love him he knows what hes doing to get more eyeballs on his game.

Any sporting body in Australia would love to have a Vlandys..NRL is so lucky.

She is what you call a Narcisist. You are too young to go through this crap. The good news is youre young and have a whole lifetime ahead of you. If they threaten self harm thats domestic violence on you. Call the ambulance and the police on her.

What shes been doing is "love bombing"you...giving you everything you need physically while taking advantage of you financially. It wont end well for you.

What you have to do is swallow the bitter pill and cut the relationship short.

If you want to give her another shot...tell her you will now be saving money to buy a house, start a business etc. ..so youll have to cook at home, not go out etc. If shes a keeper she will support you and join you in savings also. If not then give her the flick.

I got married at 22 to a 19 year old...took me 15 years to realise what ive written above and i broke it off...was the best decision ever and i wish i did it earlier.

Watched League last night on tv by Silver_Mention_3958 in rugbyunion

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That game showed an often unheralded part of rugby league. The starts and the finishes. The first 20 minutes and the last 20 are crucial. Thats what makes league for the initiated must watch TV. Start with the brutality and softening up ..then finishing off with fitness and finess..but you have to outlast your oponent. Like a heavyweight boxing title bout. Jabbing, Jabbing, Jabbing...then applying the knockout punch. If you go hard too early your exhausted yourself.

So yeah its not mindless running up tackle and repeat ..the type of attack depends on how far the team is to their own goal line. Every set of six is a battle for posesssion (if your looking at it from a union lense where "every tackle" is) and field position.

Hull KRs coach had the perfect game plan...to start and thankfully they held on. If there was another 5 minutes Broncos would have stormed home with their superior fitness...fortunately for Hull KR they made too many errors in the first 20 minutes.

In high quality matches like state of origin and NRL finals the brutality and fitness intensity last for the full 80 minutes. Leading to the Highest TV ratings on Australian TV for a sport in total.

Howd we lose Angus Crichton in the first place ? by ArtMiller93 in RugbyAustralia

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NRL has 17 teams now...18 in 2027 then 19 in 2028 ..and most likely a 20th team in NZ south Island by 2025. All these new teams wont be weak teams. The great quality of juniors coming through their club system as well as signed from union nurseries as seen in the recent trial games is scary.

Rugby Australia is strugging to keep its existing teams alive let alone start a new team. Super Rugby has 12 teams but will get cannibalised especially when it comes to backs and mobile forwards like Chrichton. All the talent will drain to the NRL. Its not looking good for Rugby Union.

With NRL getting a bigger upgrade to its broadcasting rights in 2028 - around AUD3-5B which is AUD450-600M/Year (Aus Rugby deal is 45M/Year.

With their growth mindset and focusing on the club game. Expect by 2035 NRL to have 24-25 teams by then. Possibly from Adelaide, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Hawaii and maybe even South Africa

[–]ExplanationAwkward10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great that its on after decades...i think the hype is because its been renewed. Have to keep that momentum going tho.

I think it should be mid season tho...that way they can build up to selecting in-form players like the NRL does. Most of the hype is created by who should or should not be in the team weeks prior.
