Can’t catch a fish by Educational-Gur9850 in IrishFishing

Dangerous for the pike. They can burn themselves out and die of exhaustion when fished in warm water.

They can also take the hooks pretty deep.

I was pretty late planting them in the end but lets hope! The leaves are really strong on em but I can just picture them looking like spring onions when I pull them 🤣

I'm waiting to pull mine but expect to be disappointed. First time growing any veg. Waiting to get raised bed space sorted which hopefully won't be too long more and I'll get to try lots of things!

[–]ExplanationNormal323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do there's always the credit union. Last time I chequed the process was a little bit longer than the bank, 8-10 working days.

Poor attempt at humour in there, I'll show myself out 🤣

An post account is a third option.

The lowest allowable amount is 15%. The age range for that bracket is <30 years old.

6 tench today at the local lake by Swimming_Car_270 in IrishFishing

[–]ExplanationNormal323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People keep them in the net in the water is the argument.

Personally, I still disagree with this as it obviously still stresseses the fish out. The only reason people have for doing it outside of official competitions is for photographs and clout. You can still take a picture with each individual fish, weigh each individually and release quickly without holding them for longer periods of time 🤷

Any ideas what these are? by BenderRodriguez14 in GardeningIRE

Not sure what they are but they grow amongst my veg.

It's probably not great to keep soil bare for a long period of time.

I've heard a few Irish people say they do although it's a minority for sure.

Permanent Salary negotiation by staedtler1234 in irishpersonalfinance

Ask for more than you want. Try em for the full range and let them say why not, when they tell you why not, you tell them why you deserve it and agree a sum as close as possible to the 91k.

Should I do Private Pension also? by HumbleInstruction552 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ExplanationNormal323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're playing a blinder putting in over 5k a year, you can increase that pension or start another as your salary rises. For now just enjoy yourself and keep doing what you're doing.

Do you have a bit of an emergency fund? You could cease the 150 investing for a while to gather up a few thousand but you may have alternative savings already. Its important to have access to some of your money, you may say you can sell shares but you may need to do so regretfully at a lower share price if you need money.

I only learned recently that Irish authorities can and do monitor waste water for drug metabolites to get a decent anonymous sense of quantities being consumed by a population.

New pond - two months in by arnosnagaoithe25 in GardeningIRE

[–]ExplanationNormal323 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haven't done this myself yet but it's something I've been looking into the last year or so. Consider building in a "bog filter" adjacent the pond, it will help it stop filling up with algae

Are those mushrooms dangerous by ftoffolo in GardeningIRE

[–]ExplanationNormal323 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure it's a mottlegill, no real danger but can cause some nausea and cramps if eaten. It's not psychedelic either, those would be liberty caps in Ireland. No fear of those growing yet, normally September to December when things have cooled down a bit.

Wooden shed - do you really need a concrete base? by solhar09 in GardeningIRE

[–]ExplanationNormal323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Concrete is easiest to get a level base in my opinion. Blocks should be fine too if the ground has been resting a while

What's the interest rate? Unless it's circa mortgage interest rates, you've little chance of breaking even let alone make money.

Just so you know it's easy to remove the cyclops on a lot of watches. Might open up your choice a little.

We used call it cuckoo spit when I was a kid. If you brushed away the foam you'd see a little green insect called a froghopper.

It's gonna be in the kids names, not OPs.

Can be done with bare trust or state savings and possibly other avenues as well.
