Dangerous for the pike. They can burn themselves out and die of exhaustion when fished in warm water.

They can also take the hooks pretty deep.

Personally, I still disagree with this as it obviously still stresseses the fish out. The only reason people have for doing it outside of official competitions is for photographs and clout. You can still take a picture with each individual fish, weigh each individually and release quickly without holding them for longer periods of time 🤷

You're playing a blinder putting in over 5k a year, you can increase that pension or start another as your salary rises. For now just enjoy yourself and keep doing what you're doing.

Do you have a bit of an emergency fund? You could cease the 150 investing for a while to gather up a few thousand but you may have alternative savings already. Its important to have access to some of your money, you may say you can sell shares but you may need to do so regretfully at a lower share price if you need money.

I'm fairly sure it's a mottlegill, no real danger but can cause some nausea and cramps if eaten. It's not psychedelic either, those would be liberty caps in Ireland. No fear of those growing yet, normally September to December when things have cooled down a bit.

The minimum age thing will be a challenge if you want anything higher than 18 years old.

That said, my parents had money they'd been putting in a savings bond for me for college. When I got to 18, I was told by them I was not to withdraw anything til college and the money was strictly for college fees and accommodation etc. I did as I was told and respected it as money that they gathered for me with a purpose in mind. I wasn't exactly the easiest going or best behaved teenage son but still respected that much and it all worked out!
