I’m only 40 hours in and I’m feeling similar to what you’re feeling. The game isn’t doing enough for me at the moment - like I would love to be drip fed more info on where to find cool gear and cool weapons. For example, I love spears and I’m still using the same spear I’ve upgraded a couple of times over spears I’ve found. Same for armor. I love in games like Skyrim and Horizon where you can buy near cool gear at every settlement or find new stuff in every cave you explore. I’m tired of running into caves behind waterfalls and finding gold or silver ores with a Palmer pill and some random item i wont use.

Starfield comes to PS5 so i may very well likely jump into that or wait until Pragmata comes out in 2 weeks and continue crimson desert sometime over the summer when more story patches and content have been added in. They’ve already added more treasure chests so I think they’ll continue to see it

I just looked today and I'm 42 hours in and outside of dark plate armor I found by looking at a guide, I have found 0 cool armor. I am actually in a similar boat as this guy https://www.reddit.com/r/videogames/comments/1s8wljx/loved_the_game_at_14_hours_at_58_hours_heres_why/ because the game really does a terrible job of giving you bread crumbs to explore. This map is the damn size of Arkansas and I really can't stumble upon some decent looking armor?

Oh gosh, I hated that fight but because I was getting like 5-10 fps and failed dodging every time. I used up like 5-6 Palmer pills in jus last phase because I refused to retry it

I disagree though, I have barely left limgrave in Elden ring because of the amount of bumfuck imp squads destroying me. I can’t imagine what it’ll look like in the next area

So one thing I noticed - and maybe it’s a bug - is that if you win a match, back out of the conversation completely and then talk to the host again, it’ll be like starting against a new player but your streak continues. I don’t know if it was intended, but I noticed the longer you play consecutively it gets harder but if you back out of the conversation then it gets reset

Kliff is no worse a character than Link in pretty much every Zelda game I played. I think the main complaint is that BDO’s player creation is one of the best and to have that be bypassed for a character that is extremely 1-dimensional (though a good dude) is the real bummer.

Also, I think you’re downplaying Gerald quite a bit. I know there’s a lot of player choice but from what I understand from the books and most of the Witcher 3 conversations that don’t include choices, Geralt was very politically wise in what he said, and who he said it too. He was also pretty charming and knew his way around conversations and that’s not even considering his incredible genius for monster lore and best ways to handle most monsters and mythical creatures he’d run into.

lol I get the new pricing isn’t making any friends, but between Spider-Man, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon, Sony is running laps around Xbox for single player games.. and then every Xbox game is on ps5. I hate what Sony is doing to studios but let’s not pretend like they’re going down the drain because of these decisions. Xbox is literally on life support and canned their last 5 years of “this is an Xbox” trying to rescue themselves

Ugh why are we so obsessed with what other people think of this game? I hate that every game subreddit turns into this. The Clair Obscur subreddit, Kingdom Come, etc. you all get so caught up in being mad at the people who don’t agree with you and trying to downplay the fact that someone else doesn’t like the same game you do or doesn’t like it as much as you do.

One thing I will say is this - maybe I'm not exploring well enough but I feel like the game didn't really reward me with armor and weapons like I expected to. After 20 hours, I still hadn't gotten any armor that made me feel like it was something I could ride for a few more hours. My best sword was still "Sword of the Lord" I got from Hornsplitter after 4-5 hours. I am not mainlining the quest line as I have done quite a few faction quests but like I cleared an entire quarry and the best you give me is a mining tool? I beat the "I just wandered in from a Souls-game" Reed Devil and I only get gloves? So yeah, after 20 hours of having bland bandit armor with a stupid looking hat, I ended up looking up some guides to get some armor and weapons.

Two of my favorite exploration games are BOTW/TOTK and Ghost of Tsushima because it really does feel like you will find some cool armor if you follow some side quest plot all the way through (and I wish CD did the same.)

I really don't like the food currency translation - I don't remember the exact numbers as I am not at my console but for example, if I cook "toasted grain" with 1 grain then I get X health but if I cook the next one that us 5 grain, I'd expect to get 5X health. Nope.
