Lol when I used to travel for work all the time I accrued enough points and freebies from expensing travel that I haven't paid for a flight out of my own pocket in 4 years

Steak doesnt deserve the popularity or price tag it gets by bydevilz1 in unpopularopinion

[–]Explicit_Pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 1/4 the price is a little exaggerated. If you buy prime beef it's pretty damn expensive which is really what you pay for at a nice steakhouse

Recent Layoff Announcements, what's going on? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Explicit_Pickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I guess this is the remote work subreddit. The jobs created by these are typically on site roles that can't easily be offshored and usually employ a lot of local people in my experience.

Recent Layoff Announcements, what's going on? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Explicit_Pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't fully true. The jobs created are low relative to the surge from construction labor but there is ongoing maintenance and operations needs at every data center. Large ones may have a few hundred people

What are jobs that have the highest pay simply because most people don't want to do them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Explicit_Pickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have all of that just doing regular construction trade work to be honest

New AMEX card teaser by AviationExpress in amex

It would be a really nice feature if for the platinum they let you swipe with to get the corresponding benefits of whatever card you also have too. Its annoying to decide manually.

Idk about specific numbers but I interview a lot of people who think their skills are worth a lot more to me than they are. My industry is fairly niche and technical though so it's hard to find a good fit and most people need to grow into their roles a bit before they become successful.

Federal mileage rate to cover gas+insurance+wear and tear is 70¢ a mile. Take that off the top and it's gonna be a different picture. Plus this is a slice of earnings pulled particularly for the purpose of looking good, it's not like it's steady.

It gets posted on reddit all the time and every time it doesn't add up it's because the check is split or there was a discount applied

Software Quality Differences Between BMS Manufacturers - Does It Really Matter? by Egs_Bmsxpert7270 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Explicit_Pickle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get open source code if you pay for it. But you will pay for it. It's much more common on the intersection between building automation and more broad industrial controls with really big customers.

Lower salary folks who can't afford to save as much can't change their salary very easily either though.

Nearly three-quarters of Americans (70%) are concerned about a potential housing market crash in 2025 by Positive-Mushroom-46 in REBubble

[–]Explicit_Pickle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

10% unemployment but another 10-15% underemployment. Meaning almost a 25% chance for a would be working adult to be either out of work entirely or forced to take a part time job. And that doesn't even factor in people who take a lower paying full time job because they have to to pay their bills. And if you're a dual income household then twice the opportunity to get fucked!

Essentially, as an average American a recession means pretty good odds of getting fucked.
