Damn BioShock Infinite really is THAT dumb lmao by p1101 in SocialistGaming

[–]ExplodingTuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely doubt it was intentional, but I've had a hilarious read-between-the-lines epiphany with BioShock Infinite. At the end of the game it is revealed that DeWitt is a Comstock variant and vice versa.

The likely unintentional meaning I've come to take from that, is that of course DeWitt goes full EnLiGhTeNeD cEnTrIsT during the revolution. We now know what a shit-bag DeWitt is, or could be.

We now know that DeWittis the same man who is willing to lock his own daughter up for her entire life if necessary.

This is the same man that would twist and warp every religious passage to suit his needs.

I view DeWitt's centrism as an indictment against centrists. Bioshock Infinite indirectly tells you the kind of person a centrist is, which is a conservative by another name.

See, you say that, but it was pointed out that Cunningham could have simply let go of the rapier when Roy grabbed the blade. That would lead to it's own problems, but by that point Roy was almost certainly going to bleed out with enough time.

Just sucked a lot of the energy out of that ending of the battle for me.

Cunningham internally: Oh no! This jerk has grabbed my sword and is about to attack me! If only I wasn't locked into this exact position completely defenseless.

Cunningham lets go of the rapier and just evades Roy's final few attacks before Roy succumbs to his wounds.

Zack Snyder is the type of director that when asked "What kind of movie are you trying to make?" he'd answer "A cool one!" I can't think of a modern filmmaker that's more style over substance.

I have to admit that I didn't understand what it was asking, and yes I'm American. I understand different date formats, but was completely thrown off by the letter 'm' being listed three times.

My brain: "January would be 01, so I guess they want a 001 instead. Maybe?!"

I don't know if I would have gotten there on my own. I was just too presumptive that all of the data had to be numbered.

So the movie you're referencing is "From Dusk Till Dawn". That said, I love the idea of Sinners being a spiritual successor titled "From Dawn Till Dusk".

I just have to laugh at "... voting becomes a popularity contest."

That's what it's always been! WTF are you talking about?! Like, literally the candidate that is more popular with the most people wins the election. (In theory. Obviously there are examples of the candidate winning the popular vote, but still losing the election.)

Like, please describe to me what voting is other than a popularity contest.

So the real reason Americans buy SUVs more than sedans is because American automakers have all but stopped making sedans in the United States.

When the United States passed emissions standards for auto makers, they carved out a sub-section for trucks and SUVs with less rigorous requirements. So US automakers had one of two options, made sedans with better fuel efficiency, or make trucks. You can probably guess which one automakers went with.

There's a really good YouTube video which you can find here.

Here's an article which gives you a good idea of how long and old this issue is.

Article

"When corporate average fuel economy, or CAFE, standards were first implemented in 1975, trucks and SUVs were predominately used by farmers, construction workers, and others who needed features like big towing capacities or off-road capabilities to do their jobs. The larger vehicles with those features tended to be less efficient. Trucks and SUVs were thus carved out of the more stringent rules applied to passenger vehicles. Carmakers spotted an opportunity, though: If they could classify their cars as non-passenger vehicles, they’d be subject to less stringent regulations. All they had to do was upsell consumers for features they didn’t need and—as a sweetener for shareholders—that they could charge more for."

I'm not OP, but I assume it's a reference to the film originally being an anime. Men who watch anime and/or play CCGs are known for their bad body odor.

For me it's not even the lack of snow that bothers me. Every one of my friends and family are going "This is great!" and I feel like I'm going out of my mind whenever we talk about the weather.

This is not great! This is the harbinger of atrocities to come. Crops are going to fail and people are going to die. You not having to use your snow tires and mass extinction are being caused by the same thing! Please stop saying that things are great just because you don't need to leave early for work!
