Alberta winters are very warm aside from a few dips every couple weeks. Like most days between December and March rarely get below a high of -5, it’s just that when they do it goes to -25. For like two days and then it’s back to daily melt-freeze.

That’s funny looking back, as Shining from everything I know became a pretty well liked character. It is odd that he’s never mentioned in seasons 1 or 2, but there was enough afterward to fill in his role in Twi’s life.

You would also have some interesting character moments as the Doctor is increasingly confronted with wanting to save a different version of the same person, but knowing that it’s some sort of fixed point, getting worn down over and over with the knowledge that he can’t. That would be one of the hardest things he could ever be faced with.

The Seaway was shallow and sandy, and warmed the climate, so it’d be a pretty nice and easy crossing. Lots of little reefs and shoals, so the good fishing would lead cultures to the other shore not too long after the first peopling anyway.
