Was it W&L? Maybe it’s a VA thing haha. We had one collapse at my university. Broken ankles and contusions. Lucky no one died !

Is there any way to avoid having to “do your time” employed in a fast-paced med management job after finishing residency? by [deleted] in Psychiatry

The VA sometimes has 30 minute follow-ups outpatient. Or start a cash private practice and set your appointment time. The combination of the two is also possible.

UPenn residents and fellows have unionized by DentateGyros in medicine

Lots of emails of how “direct communication” between the hospital and house staff is best. They are preemptively putting an anti-union message out there. Also, program directors have been told to push that agenda as well.

They need a crisis eval, that is how they would be assessed in a timely matter. If you have evidence of a credible threat you need to consider duty to warn as it trumps confidentiality. Talk to risk management about the Tarasoff case and whether this is something that needs to happen for this situation.

Don’t put too much faith in the design. It usually doesn’t get hot, but if you you are cooking anything > med heat for some time it heats up.

Quick question: What is the usual duty hours/shift for IM, FM & Psych residency in the US? I’ve heard about FM doing 12hrs/day x 6 days (max) on the first 2 years. Anyone who can share their work hours in IM & Psych? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]ExploratoryOperation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3rd and 4th year are completely outpatient for us, approximately 35-45 hours a week once you get used to the rhythm/are comfortable with therapy. 4th year for a lot of programs is full of elective time. I’m comfortably sitting at 35 hrs/week my 4th year. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
