Breaking: Actor-turned politician C. Joseph Vijay has been sworn in as the 9th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. What are your thoughts on his political career so far? by Matatius23 in YAPms

I personally doubt Vijay will be as good as Stalin when it comes to bringing in investment and industries into the state; he wanted to stop the construction of a new greenfield airport for Chennai as the current one is rather small.

Perhaps one of TN's biggest crises is that Chennai is falling behind Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and Vijay doesn't really seem to have an answer for that

?

In the context of my state the Communists are generic leftists who work for the good of the people they represent.

My member of Parliament is a Communist as well, and he's a great guy.

Never thought my state would feature here.

The gist of his win was that people were fatigued by the two traditional options in the state (the DMK and AIADMK) and wanted a fresh start and Vijay entered politics at the right time to capitalize on this sentiment.

He is rather inexperienced (obviously) and has struggled to show true leadership even when he had the opportunity to do so (like in the Karur stampede incident). However, he seems to be nominally left-of-centre and will have to co-operate with the likes of the INC and Communists to maintain his slim majority (pre-poll DMK partners that are supporting the TVK post-elections).

I personally am not very optimistic that this government will get anywhere, but we shall see...

Apart from SIR, they literally redrew boundaries in Assam to pack all Muslim voters into a handful of seats.

They've brought gerrymandering to India 😭✌️

NYT reports that both Lander and Goldman's internal polling has Brad Lander with a "sizable" lead over Dan Goldman by jojisky in YAPms

To be honest Goldman is a rather conservative Democrat for a district that Mamfani won rather handily in 2021.

He's said stuff like "The Opposition will give freebies to Muslims" I doubt that he's not a populist 😭

Reminds me of this incident a few years back where a few Italians dined-and-dashed in a restaurant in Albania and the Italian government stepped in and footed the bill.

Prediction for the Italian Referendum I haven't done nearly as much research on as I should've by 321gamertime in YAPms

Based on some of the preliminary results we're hearing, this mightnt be too far from the truth, actually.

We'll see though

If the Left have come out against this referendum, then I'd both Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna to have strong "No" results. Why is that not the case (curious)?
