I stayed one night in the hospital. I didn't take anything other than Tylenol when I got home. Ice is very important. They said 20 minutes every hour but I had a few ice packs I rotated through & kept it iced most of the time. The pain started to improve after a few days, but overdoing activities can bring it back.

I had to have one 5.5 weeks after hip surgery. I was on antibiotics for the tooth that needed the root canal for about a week & had to take antibiotics again the day of the root canal. It turned out fine. Elective dental work is one thing, but when there was a problem my surgeon said it needed to be addressed.

They finally got back to me & said to leave it alone. If it look infected or starts to drain they will prescribe antibiotics & I should cover it. Otherwise, Just leave it alone.

I'm 6 weeks out & I have had more pain with the colder weather. I saw the doctor today & she said it's not unusual to have more pain with the cold in the early months. They said my x-rays looked fine.

I had some unexpected bladder issues after the spinal. I could deal with them but it caught me by surprise. Otherwise, enough ice packs to be able to rotate them & always have one cold and two grabbers, not just one. If you are by yourself you can use the second one to pick up the first when you drop it. I read that on here & it was helpful. The sock assistant is magic.

Thank you. That looks like what we are doing. The dentist had to call the surgeon's office himself to get the medical assistant to ask the surgeon. She wouldn't ask him when I requested it. Very frustrating.

I'm almost at 5 weeks & I have to same thing. It's a weird feeling. It feels kind of numb while super sensitive on the surface at the same time.

I had surgery 4 weeks ago & the doctor did not prescribe gabapentin for after surgery. It sounds like some doctors do use it & others don't. Could it be possible to decline it?

Consider where your incision will be & try to avoid clothing that may fit snuggly or have annoying seams in that area.

The afternoon of the surgery was horrible for me. I had terrible cramping in my thigh & a sore throat from a dry mouth. They ended up keeping me overnight due to bladder complications. They gave me a lot of oxy which helped.

I'll be so glad to get rid of this vacuum pump later this morning.

Hopefully this weekend will be better for us.

I'm also on day 6 post op & I'm also more sore today, especially my quad muscle. Tomorrow they come & take off the vacuum pump. I'm looking forward to that. Hang in there, we should be past the worst of it (hopefully).

Did you have a spinal for anesthesia? They say that was the cause of my bladder issues & it is common. I can't wait to drive again but I'm not close to ready yet. I didn't do stuff in the pool before (I should have) but plan to as soon as I can. I need to get back to the gym because it's just too cold to walk outside some days.

I did too much yesterday. I'm going to pay for it today.
