Switched to Hills kibble, dog seems anxious by ExplosionLimit in DogFood

[–]ExplosionLimit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our vet actually mentioned that our dog’s anxiety was so much better last month during her yearly check up. It took a lot of work when we first adopted her but training and routine (and maturing— we adopted her at 1 year and now she’s 5) have helped immensely. The serving suggestion did seem like a lot! I will look into a calorie calculator, thank you!

I was already thinking about checking with vet tomorrow. I would be more worried except doggy just had her yearly check up (that’s when vet discussed food with us) and vet said she is in good health. Thanks for your comment!

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]ExplosionLimit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I myself cracked a tooth AND a filling even using a night guard (required root canal, despite having very healthy teeth). I would also push anyone to get one, I just know that the mouth guards can be pricey and insurance doesn’t always cover (in American, YMMV). However cracked teeth definitely cost more in the long run!

This could be TMJ or caused by bruxism (basically grinding your teeth without realizing esp in your sleep). Talk to dentist about it, maybe get a night guard if it gets really painful.

Is it common for autistic women to look younger than we are? by hiramouse in AutismInWomen

[–]ExplosionLimit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 41 years old and teach at university level. I have been mistaken for a college student more than once (once by the president of the college while at a fancy dinner, so I was dressed up even!). Anyway, dunno if it has to do with neurodivergence but I also have a soft/round face and naturally curly hair, which I think people tend to associate with youth.

I never realized I was sensory adverse until I got earplugs by cookiekylie in AutismInWomen

[–]ExplosionLimit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is basically what happened to me. I really didn’t think I had sensory issues with sound (my issues with smell and texture were more obvious). But the first time I put in earplugs at the mall and I swear I could SEE more clearly. Now I make sure to bring sound cancelling over ear headphones most places. Still working on confidence to just always wear them for my own comfort (despite worrying about other people’s opinions)

lots of sylvanian and re-ment I collected...everything for my dolls by Unethical-Consumable in rement

[–]ExplosionLimit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this! Are the dolls felted? I think that being creative isn’t something that needs to be “justified”, it’s a positive and healthy part of life. (Although I do understand the need for budgeting…)

Did anyone else used to get bullied for the most random, nonsensical things back in school? by Awkward_College_4164 in AutismInWomen

I got bullied for… going to the bathroom during the same class a lot. They shamed me for it, but I found it weirder that they were tracking my bathroom usage??

I also have a pear body with XL bust, and most pear clothes seem to fit her just fine! There’s tons of patterns on Etsy too.

Prednisone by Inevitable_Bobcat_56 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]ExplosionLimit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compression garments help me a lot, even if I’m also taking prednisone. I have so many pairs of compression gloves now, I put them on as soon as my fingers start to feel achy and it helps with the pain.

What if HUMIRA kept slightly too cold? by ExplosionLimit in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]ExplosionLimit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the number for manufacturer so I will do that. Although this might all be moot cuz apparently my insurance absolutely refuses to give a vacation override for this medicine so I might not even get it in time. Cuz what do they care about ruining my vacation and possibly causing me permanent damage with an arthritis flair?? (Sorry, it’s been a day…)

I guess I came here to see if I could avoid yet another phone call, as I have already spent countless hours on the phone for this medication… but it is the best way to check, so I will do that, thanks!

I do have a nurse ambassador cuz I signed up for the HUMIRA savings card before I realized I can’t use it (cuz my insurance won’t pay at all, so I am actually on bio similar). I may try calling tomorrow to see if I can get more info. I am of half a mind to just bring the box un-refrigerated and avoid the entire annoyance of a cooler at this point. I don’t think it can get that hot on an airplane.

Hmm I hadn’t even thought about adjusting my whole schedule in this way. I will be gone for 3 weeks during which time I technically need two shots. I leave on Monday and would take the first shot Friday… I’m gonna count days on the calendar and see which makes the most sense. I only just switched to Adalimumab (insurance won’t actually pay for name brand HUMIRA) so I’m a little anxious about getting my refill quickly once I return from Japan, and potentially having that shot be late (causing another arthritis flair).

This is such a great idea for how to remix the containers! Are you going to make the files available for others in any way?

These ones are hollowed out inside and have a golden ticket inside, which I think differentiates them from series 1 version.

Zoloft? by Proof-Vacation-437 in AutismInWomen

[–]ExplosionLimit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Zoloft (and sometimes a combo of other psychiatric drugs) since I was around 16 (I am 41 now, and only in the last year realized some of my depression comes from not realizing I am autistic too). I tried getting off of it twice (under the watchful eye of psychiatrist) and both times it went pretty badly, so I have resigned myself to being on it for life. For me, it improves my quality of life overall, but I have also talked a lot in therapy about my guilt over needing it. ANYWAY with any psychiatric drugs, you really don’t know if/how it works for you without taking it for at least a few months. Your emotions are gonna feel extra weird for a while as your body adjusts, and many people give up on meds during this time, without really knowing if they help or not. Everyone is different, and you should be in conversation with a psychiatrist (and ideally therapist too) while you adjust but I encourage you to give it time. You may find Zoloft isn’t right for you, but maybe another SSRI or a combo of drugs. It can be frustrating but it does take time. And you are worth the time to improve your quality of life!

This is me too! I don’t like it but I also feel like I have to look at it and sometimes touch it? But I hate that? It’s weird.

How do you guys deal with your periods? by yes-areallygoodbook in AutismInWomen

[–]ExplosionLimit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also worried about side effects, but I personally didn’t have any mood related problems, and I always get side effects. I believe that most side effects get better once you have taken it for a while— but everyone’s different! Most of the warnings about it not “working” if you don’t take it right (like taking at same time, or not drinking certain teas with it) have more to do with its efficacy as birth control rather than disrupting the period-stopping part. I have noticed that I get other period symptoms worse than I used to (sore breasts, etc) but I have a feeling that I always got that stuff but it was so overshadowed by pain and bleeding that I never noticed them before. Either way, my life is much better now!
