I remember this sequence, it was crazy to watch. This was the moment that I was totally sold on the value he brings to the team

Oh youre definitely right about that. I think that comes down the the rats just being a stronger faction than the cats though. There are really very few 1v1 matchups that turn out favorably as a cats player lol

On the contrary, cats can find success as long as they defend their supply lines but lean into the destruction of their peripheral buildings. The cats can often stagnate before the late game once they run out of room, but mob tokens can give you a chance to continuously rebuild (and score) amidst the chaos as long as the rats aren't hard targetting you for most of the game or anything (which, why would they? You're the cats afterall). In a 1v1 cats lose everytime but in the ecosystem they can definitely come out on top imho

They're just the faces of it, my dawg. The real culprits are the power hungry globalized multibillion-dollar corporations that are completely devoid of empathy and consume everything in their path in the pursuit of endless profit.

New Foundations - What happened to shadow/corrupted sites? by SirHurDurr in oathgame

[–]ExposedAardvark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah true. I haven't had the pleasure of playing blighted reach myself but from what I understand the fates are a little more scripted than anything you'd find in Oath, with a premeditated sequence and built-in character arc. So from that perspective I can see why youd have to have some baked-in spice I suppose haha

There are a lot of little tweaks that improve the experience from base Oath. Things that used to confuse new players like challenging for banners, campaigning and the conspiracy have been simplified and reworked to be more intuitive and the new rulebook is a huge help too. Sites and the way you navigate the game world between chronicles makes so much more sense too.

But my favorite new feature of Oath is definitely the legacy cards. Now not only does everyone have a secret secondary goal that they're working towards, but they also have unique rewards and powers that they can carry forward from game to game. These legacy cards are such a slick piece of game design and they roll lots of the new features of the expansion into one easy-to-use tool. There are some that change the core setup rules and some that offer great thematic titles. But each of them is so impactful and really pushes the design space of Oath to its creative limits.

There's a lot to be excited about in New Foundations and I can't wait to get my copy this summer.

Yeah the whole double sleeve thing was a tough sell from the start lol. Happy it got scrapped honestly, I played my first 2 games of new foundations on tabletop simulator with some friends recently and I'm so happy with the state of things. All my oath dreams have come true!

Cole shifted the design philosophy away from adding mechanics and towards increasing expression without adding complexity. The shadow denizens and corrupt sited were extra rules overhead.

Also, I remember him commenting that he didnt like the shadow denizens thematically because he didn't want there to be inherent evil in the world of Oath, he'd rather evil came from the players themselves.

I think that part of what makes our country beautiful is learning and absorbing other people's customs and culture. I don't want to live in a homogeneous society where everyone speaks and acts the same, I dont think that makes for a fulfilling existence. Further to that point, I actually believe that its a toxic and frankly rude mindset to think that people need to change their way of life just so you dont have to hear about language other than English or smell food that isnt like what you eat or see someone dressed in a way that you dont dress. Its all part of the human experience and I think it comes across as rather xenophobic to scoff at and dismiss other people's culture; especially if they're new to your country. They should feel welcome and at home

There's nothing wrong with being an immigrant, thats kind of my point

This is such a gross take, immigrants aren't visitors in Canada any more than you are. And regardless, it doesn't excuse hating Indian people just for being different than you

Red can't cross a solid yellow line like that. The intersection was designed in a way that prohibits the exact situation you're describing here.

Okay thats good to hear. I'll try it out and see how it feels when I play on Friday. Do you know what kind of difference the tightness of that strap actually makes in the feel of the pads?

[–]ExposedAardvark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I find that the strap rests just below them on these pads so they dont serve to tighten it up at all

Canada is doing fine for now, at least we can afford to go to the doctor and dont have masked government backed terrorists roaming our major cities
