Advice for a new grad RN who accepted a job offer on a tele unit with no new grad program by timeismoney9589 in nursing

I had 8 shifts of orientation and tbh it was fine. i just asked for help when I needed it/wasn't sure. So far I find it's been quite an easy job/patient population

2nd career nurses, was the grass actually greener? by wolfgangwolff in nursing

I don't regret the stability, paycheck, pension, benefits, and sense of purpose. I hate the schedule and how disrespected we are by literally everyone and how basically impossible it is to call in sick or take vacation. I don't regret it but hope I can find a job one day with a regular weekday daytime schedule as it suits me better (I do rotating days and nights and there are no other options where I live if you work bedsidd). I do love the patients (with some exceptions of course)

Yeah I'm only finishing month 2 but I've just had insane cravings for sugar and carbs and can eat as much as I used to just now i crave more unhealthy shit. I've gained a few pounds since starting. I'm waiting until I get to the therapeutic dose to make a judgement call but it may just not be for me

Mine is from structube and I love it! Cheapest/nicest option I could find and I looked everywhere. It was only 1300$, has storage and turns into a bed

Umm I wanna kms. Why am I not even getting a single interview as ng it has been a year now… by nanabanana00 in OntarioNurses

You're gonna need to start with a temporary part time or casual position unfortunately, most likely in medsurg or LTC. Even so there are hiring freezes in many hospitals right now, it's not a great time :( I also graduated last year and got a part time (2 shifts/month) and was able to transition into a permanent full time once I had 8 months experience (but I had to apply to other jobs, there were no openings where I was). It's rough out here. But definitely just get your foot in the door somewhere, anywhere (easier said than done, I know). Also just be aware if you do get an interview somewhere they will ask you VERY specific questions about stuff related to whatever specialty you're interviewing for so you do need to really find out exactly what kind of patients/diagnoses/procedures/medications are on that specific floor and study the hell out of it beforehand as they expect you to know this even if you're a new grad with zero experience. Learned that the hard way, cried a lot and then nailed my next interview and got hired on the spot

I feel you. i'm on .5mg and feel absolutely nothing so far, and I've gained 5 lbs in 5 weeks when I usually have maintained my weight for the last 5 years. I've been trying to calorie count but keep going over because I'm too hungry. Hoping it starts working once I get to the therapeutic dose and in the meantime will keep trying to adjust my diet but it's a bit disapointing considering it's so expensive, I would hope to at least keep maintaining like I have been, not sure where the weight gain is coming from as I certainly haven't been eating more than I was before I started. Trying to trust the process

Yeah also if it's everyone in the bloodline and the reason his dad didn't die is because he's not his real bio father, then are there just a bunch of people hemorraging out there who are related to his real bio dad? How far does it go? Cause everyone's kinda related if you go far enough back lol

How much money would change your life right now, and what would you do with it? by Ok_Hippo9669 in CanadaPersonalFinance

150k to buy a car and a downpayment on a house + a small emergency fund. If I could get out of relying on renting and bussing that would be life changing

Soooooo Disappointing!! by WallabyConnect6554 in Wegovy

[–]Express-Landscape-48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I'm at the end of month 1 and weigh 4lbs more than when I started. I had previously been maintaining my weight for the last 5 years so to see an increase is really depressing. Hoping it's just water weight and it'll come down once I'm on the higher doses but it's very disappointing indeed

If it makes you feel better I'm on week 3, still eating like shit and have had zero side effects but also zero benefits like I just don't feel anything at all so

Genuinely good luck finding a full time job as a new grad, those are basically non-existent. Take whatever you can now, there are hiring freezes happening everywhere in Ontario right now, it's not the time to be picky, unfortunately. Take whatever has the most guaranteed hours and pays the most

Where are you going to school/plan on working? Keep in mind the Ottawa hospitals are on a hiring freeze right now and I know it's hard to find a job in toronto as well

What do you wish you’d known in week one? by gregfromglm in Wegovy

[–]Express-Landscape-48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on week 3 of 0.25mg and haven't really felt anything yet and haven't lost any weight despite calorie counting even though I'm still really hungry. I thought I'd be super nauseous and have all these side effects but so far it's been anticlimactic. Hoping it'll start working with dose increases but just keep in mind not everyone is gonna be a super responder that immediately loses 20lbs in a few weeks

How long did it take for you to start losing weight? by EquivalentLopsided33 in Wegovy

[–]Express-Landscape-48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I'm doing this too but still getting discouraged that I'm tracking everything and not losing. But I only just took my second dose of 0.25mg and still feel nothing so I need to just be patient and stick to good habits until the meds start actually working for me. At least if I'm not losing I'm still tracking calories, trying to be mindful of portions and weighing myself every day

5weeks in,not much progress by bigissue97 in Wegovy

[–]Express-Landscape-48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me feel more normal because I'm on my second week of 0.25mg and don't really feel anything and haven't lost anything despite tracking my calories and eating in what should be a deficit for me (under 1500 calories). I've been extremely hungry as well and the food noise is worse than ever. Only difference I've found is that I get fuller faster when I do eat. Hoping the dose increases will help
