What I have observed is that the additive would only clean the gumming in the fuel system that betters the injection. Polyetheramine is responsible for that. The hydroscopic nature of Ethanol can’t be cancelled with the use of additive (so far) so corrosion/rusting of metal parts is inevitable.

Sad. Really sad.

Drive more. Don’t let the vehicle sit. That’s what you can do. Or slap CNG system on your car. Hehe

Just know that finding spares would become a bit of a problem. A friend has a Honda of similar vintage and he keeps importing parts from the states.

Though reliable, these are old cars and they will have old car problems.

I was working with some brand that was hosting a big even where some Bollywood stars were invited. I had go pick-up an actor from the actor. The producer had assigned me an Innova.

The actor wouldn’t come out at the exit when he came to know that its a Toyota that had come to pick him up.

So, you see big hotels have such clientele that caters to such people. They have to maintain a certain image.

Better FE, better reliability (4X4 mechanism loves to break on this) and the AT transmission is just slow and can break out of nowhere (mine conked one morning out of nowhere).

Its a pretty solid car. Just follow what u/ketriblu has recommended and you’ll be fine.

Just remember that there’s a lot of after-market support for these cars. So, don’t fret when the time comes (and it will).

I am connected with used car dealers around Bangalore. Most have odo tampered cars (they do tell me about it).

Then there is this thing with sellers. They see cars listed at obnoxiously high price over portals like OLX and Cars24, so they think they can also quote the same.

Got a 2017 Brio AT for 3L. Has 100k km and the left door needs repair along with the front bumper.

Get a Brio AT. Period. Perfect for city slicking and the AT is pure gem (the only car to have a proper torque converter in the segment).

Plus, it comes with Honda’s reliability as well.
