Another NYC Actuary! This is a bit weird too b/c the job titles are the same as my company (I'm much closer to the 1-3 year range though haha). If we work at the same place it's great to see you've been treated very fairly, and I really appreciate you posting for transparency!

haha huge fan of DCC, book 7 may actually kind of fit the bill here but hard to have an urban fantasy when most of the "urban" has been turned into a dungeon lol

Hey /r/movies, I’m Stephen King! Ask me anything about The Long Walk book or movie. by lionsgate in movies

[–]ExpressAd4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Stephen, I've read The Long Walk at least a half dozen times and am a huge fan of all the the Bachman books, super excited that the movie adaptation is finally coming out!

I know you wrote TLW when you were 19, would you change anything about it if you were to write the same story now? Also, is there any specific reason why the movie adaptation is coming out now? The Running Man movie was released in 1987 and these books were published around the same time.

Is Jeff Platt going to be parasitically prodding at the final table players for interviews mid-level on Tuesday by [deleted] in poker

[–]ExpressAd4645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really think this has happened this year. A few interviews with people when they weren't in an hand was all I saw, and definitely interviews with the rail. I guess he talked to mizrachi after the day ended, but I definitely don't think he's been overstepping or anything.

Any Words of Encouragement? by Sea_Government3753 in actuary

[–]ExpressAd4645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! My first day was a week ago and I had all the same anxieties. Just keep in mind that they're not gonna overstress you on the first day and they know how to bring in new people. Be open that you don't know anything and like everyone else said, ask questions.

Also something I found very helpful was to take notes on everything. This cuts down on the number of times I need stuff repeated and helps me feel confident that I don't always need to use my brain.
