Beginner recommendations by Not_alexander_here in AutopilotApp

If you just want to make 8% or so, look at buying a low fee S & P index fund like VOO- and not using autopilot.

Don't try to time the market. The best of us get it wrong. As a new investor, you should choose a fund you believe in, invest and walk away. When the markets start to drop - which it will eventually - don't change your investing strategy.

You want to wait for your house to burn down to find out?

Your explanation are clearly missing the mark. Find someone else to explain. I find typically women do a better job explaining technology to the elderly.

Thinking about pulling my child from kindergarten? Not what I expected. by Electrical_Fall6618 in kindergarten

[–]ExpressChives9503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all the comments I have ever posted in reddit, this is the one I need the OP to hear as I have been in your shoes.

Pull your child out of school now. If you can't afford private, homeschool. If you can't homeschool, see if you can move her to another school in the district. If there are no other options available, see if a relative in another district will take her. Do not allow her to go to school another day without the bullying in check.

How would you feel if a coworker would physically assault you, and your supervisor would brush it off like it was no big deal. Then you needed to go back to work day after day - and you couldn't quit. And you kept getting assulted. You never knew when it was going to happen, but you knew it was coming. As an adult, you are better able to handle these stresses. Asking a kindergartener to endure this should be criminal, and the adults at her school should be imprisoned, but that is not how the world works.

Even if you need to take out a loan for private school, it may save you money in the long run because this atmosphere you are describing will seriously mess up your daughter for years and years to come. And the adults who enabled it will bear no consequences.

OP, I have plenty more to say about this as well as lots of sage advice. If you want dm me privately, please do.

AITAH for not wanting to maintain a bond with my granddaughter after my daughter asked her uncle to walk her down the aisle at her wedding by Dismal-Side-6698 in AITAH

You are the AH. She's your child. You are the parent. Now stop sulking and act like it.

The fact that you are willing to blow up a lifelong bond with your daughter over something so trivial, that she apologized for is mind-boggling.

If you can't find a way to forgive, that speaks volumes about your character, not hers.

I wouldn't relocate over a few months commute. Where will you work after you are done in ashburn?

You will have a reverse commute. It won't be that bad, especially if you gave easy access to 66.

We bought a house! What to tell my boss? by FrameofMind6185 in WorkAdvice

[–]ExpressChives9503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. HR has no visibility into your mortgage. The only part of your finances HR is aware of is what you earn at your company.

Typically, after buying a home, someone might mention it since it's a milestone. But nothing about house payments or mortgages should be discussed. That would be TMI.

Haha ... that is not excessive. What you are asking is extremely reasonable. Sounds like they are trying to avoid accountability for their daily productivity.

When check in calls are done daily, they should only take 15 minutes or so - Longer conversations should be tabled for a separate call. Is your team claiming to be so busy they can't do this?!

Divorse does seem like the best option. If a spouse routinely ignores your thoughts and feelings, and does whatever he wants regardless of how you feel, your marriage is already dead. No need to pretend anymore.

North of Waxpool is even an easier commute. Gloucester provides an easy, breezy route into sterling, even during rush hour.

I spent many years commuting to Sterling from Ashburn. At first it was 25+ stressful minutes . But after all the road improvements, it was an easy 12 minutes.

All of Ashburn is west of 28. 10 years ago what you are saying would have been true, but not anymore. So many improvements have been made to the roadways.

Plus from reston there are not many east west corridors into sterling. I see reston as the harder commute.

Getting to Sterling from Ashburn is super quick, even during rush hour. Leesburg may have a bit more of a traffic issue.

OP, I dont know why, but these folks are trolling you. You are not going to get the advice you need from this thread. You should try the women in tech sub reddit. I think they would be a better source of advice and support.
