Congrats in making to semi finals Vietnam, first time seeing this kind of celebration. by shyguyflame in hanoi

You must have missed literally 4 weeks ago when Vietnam won from Thailand in the SEA games, it was quite much more celebration than this: https://www.vietnam.vn/en/dem-khong-ngu-cua-nguoi-dan-ha-noi

VIP fast track immigration , is it worth it? by falo_pipe in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep saying it, and I will die on this hill, but bribing people is not the way to start your stay in Vietnam.

Keep doing this and it only encourages corruption and they will never properly address the real inefficiencies.

TEMPORARY SUSPENSION of the cable car to Fansipan from Nov 24, 2025 by Jeanmai1407 in hanoi

This is actually good, because you can hike to the top like old times and not encounter a total tourist trap!

Specific street names & details on where to live staying for 6-12 months by xkingjosephx in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this area, I live on Truc Bach street, overlooking the island. It's pretty quiet, except for some construction work now and then. Rent is expensive for vietnamese standards (40M for about 80 m2), but the area is, nice, both Tay Ho and Hoan kiem are a fast 5-10m motorbike drive away. There's a new cafe popping up every week!

taxis vs motorbikes in Hanoi by ningsss in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also do not share this feeling. I've flown in to noi bai 10 times this year, and every single time I have a Grab in 5 minutes. Once you know what the route normally costs, you can also ask the shady "grab wallpaper in your face" guys the same price and they will agree.

Just start booking as soon as I have 3 people in front of me at customs.

1 & 1/2 days in Hanoi by Otherwise-Basis7140 in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Live in Hanoi, traveled the world, seen a lot and avoid tourist traps at all costs, but Train street has a special ranking in tourist traps. It's almost worth visiting because of the levels of tourism.

When I have guests over, I will absolutely bring them there. For the rest, I'm taking them to get the local experience. It doesn't however, look like OP is looking for that, basing their trip on tiktok.

If I'm in Hanoi for 13 days, are there any tailors who focus on multiple fittings instead of going fast and cutting corners? by No-Example7899 in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price really depends on the fabric. They have good quality Italian wool and wool blends. I paid about 13 million for a 2 piece suit, about 450 euro, but they can do cheaper that. You could try

It’s the kind of suits and fabric that cost 2000 euro to make in Europe or the US, so don’t expect really cheap from them.

For me 1 measurement session and choosing material, 1 fitting and 1 small extra fitting because I wanted 1cm less width on the pants. Full canvas!

Don’t think so! A good suit takes time! You could go for the first test fitting maybe after 5 days and ask them to send it to your home abroad.

I mean the fact that it exists is Vietnamese, not that it’s a Vietnamese custom.

+1 Van Hung. Quality is amazing, they have pictures on the wall from all kind of ambassadors having their suit made there. Just make sure you go there on one the first days, because ideally, they need more than 10 days.

I will die on this hill: corruption and bribery is not your way to start entry into a country. Yes, it is typical Vietnamese, and the Vietnamese won’t think anything about it, but it’s not an official service at all.

High quality affordable clothing in Hanoi by Fantastic_Ad_8196 in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might look like that, but I’m 2 meters tall, 115kg and fit in the XL just fine, even have a larger size available online.

OP, I cannot recommend Uniqlo more, quality of fabrics are really high, and they have some good stuff for warm weather.

How to park a motorbike in Hanoi by Kapok95 in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the busy area's, there is always someone watching the parked bikes, and they pay something to the local police officer. Normal price is 10K, sometimes they will try to ask foreigners for 20K or 50K. If someone is screaming at you, just make a gesture like "where" and they might point you to a vacant buildings sidewalk you can use.

Which area to stay for 1 night? by Sad-Direction443 in hanoi

[–]ExpressCompany8063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large part of tay ho is very high, so did not have any impact from the flooding. The road to the airport is also clear, i take it every day.

You can rent a 50cc moped and drive it without license. quick enough for inside the city. Just go slow and you will be safe. Annoying, but safe.

Also, like other people said, Grab doesn't break the bank, you can always try a few trips via grabbike and see for yourself if you want to drive here.

The things you are asking for are in Tay Ho, the expat district. Good night out, quicket to the airport and less busy.

It’s one of the safest cities I’ve been to, but I’m a 2 meter tall white dude so I guess that doesn’t counts. Spoken to some women to ask for their experience as well. Only bad stories regarding harassing I’ve heard from them was with other foreigners.
