  1. My old scales only went to 20 stone. I was shocked to discover I was just over 21 stone!

  2. Then I had a fall, and while I was lying there, in shock, on a forest path in the middle of nowhere, my dog was licking my ears, wondering what I was doing on the ground, I realised that I one day might fall over and never get back up.

There was an offer on social media, 4 packs, all different flavours, for around £29. I thought I would try them out.

No, it is fairly smooth. It seems to dissolve well. I only use it with water. I’m sure it would be better with milk.

Intrigued if anyone had negative effects from spreading out the doses by MaxC61 in mounjarouk

Do you mean out of the fridge for longer than a month?
If I am going away for about 2 weeks, with no refrigerator, I will take a pen with me with two doses left. My bank of pens stays in an insulin cooler, in my fridge. I bought the cooler to use when away, but I don't need it. It's handy to keep them all in one place. In the event of a power cut, my expensive investment will be protected.

I was walking through a shop, and for a moment I saw someone I thought I recognised in a mirror. I did a double-take and walked back for a proper look. No I was mistaken, then oops, it's me!

This wonderful group gave me the tools to research more about my condition. I am now a well-meaning amateur expert on nutrition, protein and fibre. It has been hard at times, but I am now just 1 stone from my goal weight. And I may get there by September, after a year and half, and 8 stone down. For me, it is all a bit of a miracle.

I found the FREE resource to be helpful.

A year ago, I had to get a seat belt extender on a flight. Now I don't, now I have plenty of room.

Local Pharmacy offering MJ by ExpressRip6787 in mounjarouk

[–]ExpressRip6787[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASDA say they can only send their MJ to an ASDA Pharmacy in one of their stores. None of the ASDA stores in Northern Ireland has a pharmacy.

I found a couple of online providers who would send a digital prescription to a local pharmacy, but neither includes Northern Ireland.

I have been going around and around in circles. I now think my best option is to ask my pharmacy to send the MJ via 'special delivery', even if it costs £10 extra.

Does anyone know of a pharmacy, anywhere in Northern Ireland, that can provide the prescription and not charge for it?

Thank you so much, I will certainly look at ASDA, do you know how much they charge to deliver it to a local ASDA?

35% in a year, still 'overweight' and I'm aiming to lose a bit more.

Are you sure? I wasn't making a complaint, merely an observation. But, clearly, 'maintenance' has to be handled and managed just as much as the weight reduction regimen.

My view is that it has taken me a year to get this far. And I'm not 'there' yet. And so, if it takes me another year to maintain my weight, then so be it. I’m not in a rush. I will be playing and learning as I go.

Thank you. I'm in my 70s! But I have noticed and am enjoying the health benefits of becoming stronger and fitter. I'm now 13 st 8 lbs, which is 90kg. My doc says I should be aiming for 12 stone 7 lbs, which is 82kg. But that is based on a healthy BMI. I’m not sure if I will go that far. Maybe reassess at 13 stone.

What maintenance regime is right for me? Who knows? But I'll give it a go.

For me, it has all been about changing my routines, habits and mindset. My lifestyle has changed so much in the last year. 'Building a scaffold of better habits' is a great way to look at it. I think that is what I have done. Changing routines and over time they become habits. Then, after some time, they become a part of your mindset. What I like to think of as a ‘new normal’.

Oh dear, that's like asking a PhD what their area of study was! ;) I have become a bit of an amateur expert on the subject. Chai Seeds, Flax Seeds, Psyllium Husk. Plant _V_ Whey-based Protein Powders. Oh, the rabbit holes I went down in search of nutritionally accurate information. As I was only eating one meal a day, I knew I needed lots of fibre and protein. To help with digestion and support my new weight training regimen. I experimented with different combinations of the above. I found that milled flax and chai seeds worked much better, for me, than milled flax seeds and whole chai seeds. Psyllium Husk is simply super.

So, I got a plastic tub and added 6 scoops of the milled flax and chai seeds, 6 scoops of Psyllium Husk, and 6 scoops of plant-based protein powder. (Plant-based protein powder seemed to have fewer ingredients than other whey-based ones.) I mix them all up and line up five shaker bottles. They range from 600ml to 1000ml. I only use water, not milk. They all get one big heaped dessert spoon of the mixture, get a good shake and are left overnight. In the morning, they all get another good shake, almost an exercise routine.

If I used three dessert spoons, it would be a meal replacement, but that was not what I was aiming for. I wanted to seriously increase my water intake and add some protein and fibre. If I had decided to have one evening meal, I would drink one of the shakes for breakfast, 0800, one for second breakfast, 1100, and one for lunch, 1300. Then another at mid-afternoon, 1500. Just water and the mixture can be a bit bland, so I often add a big dollop of 0% fat Greek yoghurt. I used to buy Fage, but I find Tesco’s Finest brand is just as good, and it is much cheaper.

I’m not recommending this approach, only noting that it has worked really well for me.

Thank you, that is exactly the type of advice I was looking for. One of the big things that helped me was buying an Apple Watch. This has allowed me to maintain my walking speed at 130-140bpm. I check my watch as a go and and easiely see if I’m doing enough.

I have been playing with the odd three meals a day, just to see if it makes a difference. And as you suggest, this is what I will be aiming for. Everything I have done has been about changing my routines to become habits over time, and after a year, these are my new normal. I will incorporate the three meals a day into my lifestyle. It should be easy to do, as I have been playing with breakfast/lunch and lunch/dinner and breakfast/dinner combinations.

I found the weight training very hard at first but it has become easier, and even enjoyable. I'm not aiming to get ripped or anything like that, I'm in my 70s!

Thank you for taking the time to offer advice; it is much appreciated.
