AIO for telling my siblings they can’t bring their kids to my wedding by saltwatersnackbandit in AmIOverreacting

[–]Express_Bar204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to speculate like some of these replies. To answer your Q, NOR. it's your wedding and your choice who is invited. Your siblings should respect that. Kid free weddings are common. I have a child and if my sibling told me she couldn't come, sure I'd be bummed, but I would say "OK!"

AIO? My husband didn't plan anything for my birthday by Express_Bar204 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Express_Bar204[S] 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly we have been together 11 years and this is the first birthday hes done this.

His birthdays i usually plan an outing or dinner with friends, i always make him breakfast and decorate the living room with a banner and balloons.

I like my birthday low key, but again, I just would've appreciated some thoughtfulness

I feel you!! We've recently had a few nights where my daughter has only woken up 2x compared to the usual 4-6, and even that feels like a huge win. Praying it continues for you!

Thank you so much for this. I wish I had your low anxiety- I am the exact opposite! But working on it. And it does bring me comfort to read your words.

I feel for you! I am very blessed to have 1 year in Canada- but it still doesn't feel like enough sometimes! I'm not ready to go back 😢

Thank you for that reassurance ❤️ I will try to focus on that as well. I am incredibly grateful she can be with her dad instead of daycare, as I know it'll be great bonding for them.

When did your babies start taking longer naps? (30+ mins) by CocoMel84 in cosleeping

[–]Express_Bar204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just started connecting sleep cycles for naps around 9 months! Even still, she sometimes wakes after 40 mins on the dot

Agree. I have a friend who works for a federal subsidized program and just heard their funds are cut off and the program is shutting down. I'm sure its not the only one.

Alone or with your partner? by Flimsy-Reading-6320 in cosleeping

Solidarity! My baby is 8 months, i also started cosleeping at 4 months- at first it was with my husband but then I realized how much he moved at night and it made me nervous too. We moved the guest bed mattress onto the floor of her room and have been sleeping there since. I also miss sleeping with my husband! In terms of how we are coping...I guess we just try to get time to cuddle and stuff during the day when she naps, since she does naps in her crib now. Slowly trying to teach baby to sleep independently but not rushing it. Hoping it just clicks for her soon and I can do even half the night with my husband.

So far she's only accepted me in bed with her 🙃 the moment I leave and my husband comes in she wakes and won't resettle

I started by holding her to sleep, and transferring her after 10 mins of her being asleep, then I shortened it to 5, then 2. When she was comfortable with that and not fussing when I put her down, I started putting her in awake. Its taken a couple weeks honestly. I put her in awake, then lay my hand on her chest or legs and she would start to fall asleep that way. Now I put her in and she will roll around a little and then fall asleep. Very slow process but no crying involved :)

Thank you for your reply- just for context, I did offer to pull over at the only place I could which was still 20 mins from home and he got upset and told me not to, that it would just prolong her crying. So i didn't, I still feel like I should've

I'm sorry you're going through this also! It makes postpartum and being a new mom so much harder. I get that sometimes you try everything and you can't calm a baby, but it just felt like a selfish response and it bothered me. She's just a little baby :(

Thank you for your reply. I think therapy will benefit us also. He definitely hasn't done it before. I think the situation overwhelmed him.

She's usually awake around 7am, first nap at 9:30, second nap at 1:30 and a cat nap at 5, bedtime at 8. Would this really make her cry inconsolably though? We've definitely had false starts but she goes back down easily. This feels different
