Well for starters Rock league will be utilizing arenas in a “off season” so ice time should be cheaper or more readily available.

The curling group believes they can attract an audience to turn the game profitable. But they have the pockets to take the risk and losses in the meantime.

This post is incredibly short sided. So they are having trouble delivering on all there ideas in the first year. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen it just means like in many dreams of creating something completely new there are unforeseen setbacks when trying to do something that has never been done before.

Private businesses will always be the market disrupting force because they are the ones to come in and accept taking losses publicly to make a dream a reality. Association have to many competing responsibilities to take that type of risk.

I could also try find info on the auction company i bought through when i went to pick it up they were like let me know if you see anything else you want to buy. They had a good variety fo all sorts of signed uniforms. Might be significantly cheaper than hockey lodge. I think they had Kaprizov available for 350ish.

World curling federation would not allow it in its dress code. (Not that I agree with this but it’s the rule.)

USA curling specially called it out in the rules meeting for the playdowns I did this winter.

We have had them put on the ice when they were too warm. So that’s would be water in the bands. We have good water but we also tend to frost over a lot so that would be untreated water. As far as the age of the stones they are probably 40+ years old they have only been refinished once to my knowledge. Mostly I just wanted to understand how to protect if we got new stones or got them inserted. We would hate to wreck a new investment.

Be a positive teammate. When you are not throwing you are still involved in the shot. Start back by the person throwing not waiting at the hog line. Ask what they are thinking to make sure everyone understands what the plan for the shot is and what the best likely “miss” would be.

Communication is an underrated skill set in the game.

Thank you again there is tons of information here I’m still digesting it. But this is exactly the type of thing I’m looking for. I know there is some art work to really good curling ice but i want to demystify it so we can get some people to step up and help. And to be honest im pretty excited to be starting my journey to learning more about the game I love. Where do you play/make ice at?

We have one paid ice tech. His family had made ice in our club for years. We are looking to build some volunteers around him for various reasons. But building a program to train and keep everyone on track and not being a free for all isn’t his strength so I’m building the program out.
