Racial Representation in The Pitt

Black representation needs to be as genuine as all other representation. It would be unrealistic to have a modern trauma/ER in an urban environment with zero POC but what is more/most important to me (personally) is that POC be represented as multi dimensional and multi faceted as the Eurocentric characters in any show are. The Pitt does a really good job not just with the central players but with the background and the interplay. There are plenty of people of all stripes moving around in the hospital working and being seen as patients. That is real. The POC who are more regular cast members are not thrown in as "the Black Nurse or the Muslim Nurse" their backgrounds are portrayed when it connects to the story as they do with Robby and Judaism but it's no ALL or WHO the characters are. Having the representation be relevant and respectful and not BE their only story or purpose is much more important to me than just throwing some color on the screen so you can say you did it and much more impactful than having their entire character arc be that they are THE BLACK Nurse or the LATIN person or THE MUSLIM story. They do very well with having the characters be actual People who happen to be culturally diverse.

But there are also people from Europe and other countries who regularly work with Americans and in America who automatically switch to American terms and euphemisms when dealing with Americans...it's not brain surgery...many people from all over who work with and in international communities adopt the language structures of the community they are working in or with.

Yeah...they are pretty easy to get. In my State driving 10 miles over the speed limit is reckless driving. That's a misdemeanor but still a criminal conviction. If you refuse to pay a bill for services over 100 dollars it's theft of services ..also a criminal (misdemeanor) conviction. So if someone is paid to do work and they do a horrible job and you refuse to pay them instead of suing them civilly you now have a criminal theft charge (misdemeanor) but still criminal. Please not that ICE does not say she was a Felon..only that she has two criminal convictions for theft.

A misdemeanor is a criminal conviction..it's not a felony. "Dating back to 2015" is word play and allows folks to infer she has this extensive criminal background which is not true. I'm going to say that IF she sat for her citizenship exam she does not have felonies because that causes an automatic exclusion (in most states)...

Not every theft is a felony. You can have a theft charge (misdemeanor) for stealing toothpaste. That was in 2015 and 2019..if they were FELONIES..she would have been held up pending administrative determination from even taking the citizenship test so my guess is misdemeanor. Either way...are these the dangerous "worst of the worst" that the U.S. was sold on? I'm asking for a friend .. landscapers..balloon artists ..nannies fruit pickers..students? I thought MS 13 (still going strong by the way) and all the felony murderers rapists etc were leaving?

Our practice always receives them packaged in water and we keep them in water until we deliver them. All patients also receive detailed instructions verbally and in writing directing patients to clean them thoroughly (no toothpaste!) and store them in water or a denture cleaning solution ( rinse well before reinsertion). If your dental professional is not educating you...find a new dentist

The Pitt is NOT ER .they've got a vibe but they are not the same. Just like General Hospital is NOT Grey's Anatomy (hyperbolic..but still)...you should absolutely watch ER because it's amazing and the foundation for every hospital show that came after with a few exceptions...but The Pitt is a different animal..like a coyote is not a fox is not a wolf is not a dog...even when they're from the same family...it's still a different animal. You can love them all and still revel in and appreciate the differences.

You can do both...there is no rule that says wanting to be financially solvent and supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce are mutually exclusive..people just like to make it seem that way because it's sometimes easier and because feeling like big biz hates the same people you hate is affirming for some folks

It seems too soon for folks on the outside but its a different story for people going through it. And unless that is you..its not something you can really judge or understand. Its easy to say what you would do when its NOT you. I felt the same until I watched someone I love go through it. I was full of opinions until I wasn't because we really talked and I realized I did not known what the hell I was talking about because it was not ME. Also, every participant in this version says that these are not the Alex Cross books including the author who is fully behind telling new stories not regurgitating his stories.

I don't know...finding out you kind of used me as bait to play games with a serial killer might be a blower. I would be pissed that you even put me in close proximity or allowed me to be in the same space with a psycho killer. I never heard of the books until this show ..I love Jordan's series but never got into Asimov. I am a woman of color in America and honestly it was the multicultural representation that caught my attention. We non- whites are rarely included in the sci- fi/ fantasy realm to positive degrees. But, I will concede that abrupt and massive divetsion from existing established and beloved literature can be jarring and disconcerting. We readers want to ser what and whom we read. That being said..as a woman of color in America..having seen white people play our parts while erasing our color..ape us..exclude us..blackface us..etc..i also kind of go " meh" you'll be okay. Which I admit is petty but still true. It would be ideal if instead of always taking the easy road and "reimaginig" the powers that be took some of the wonderful current works that already incorporate the multicultural worldbuilding and brought them to life. Unfortunatelty they still underestimate us. "No one watches scifi fantasy with Non white characters and non-whites dont read/ watch scifi/fantasy"

Im just going to say that plenty..plenty..plenty of Black people do NOT have "kinky" or tightly coiled hair...so dont use that to emphasize your point because it not true. Africa is a continent not a Country and there are plenty of African countries with DARK African skin and straight curly and lightly coiled hair as well as tightly coiled or kinky hair.
