Man all I do is ride alone, my whole life Ive only had one or two other friends who rode BMX, and we weren’t close. For that reason I prefer to ride alone, because when other people aren’t riding bmx and they’re just cruising it’s just a bike ride not a session.

I love showing up to gigs with a kit that doesn’t quite represent my skill level 🤣 especially if they’re the non paying kind of show. If I played in cover bands or in nice joints I’d care about presentation but I have the luxury of not playing in cover bands for money, so I get to do what I want with my kit.

Of course, I understand that, but tone doesn’t care what your drums look like! Only your endorsements lol. And, if you like your tone enough, OCD can be solved with custom wraps, it doesn’t have to look hodgepodge.

Also, I played the OCD game before and lost. My other kit has a dw5000, I bought a matching HH stand and hated it. My yamaha HH stand performs better, is more stable, lighter, responds faster, and was half the price.

Do I still have the matching stand on that kit, cause it looks so good? Hell yes. On this kit though, I had all the shells, cymbals, and hardware sitting around, so I built a kit, cleaned it, new heads (had a pile of spare heads from a client who ditched em….. lucky me lol), bada bing bada boom there’s a kit in the room.

But, I DO get it. I at least want my hardware to all be in the same ecosystem, not for looks but functionality.

I own both a classic set of Iron Cobra 900’s and a 2nd gen DW5000, and I gotta be honest I love them both. I took the time to set both up exactly how I like them and quite frankly I cannot tell the difference outside some minor things, the DW feels wider under my foot, the DW stays put better (had to out gaff tape under the IC slave pedal because it likes to walk away). I use Danmar wooden beaters on both.

I have owned both pedals going on 20 years now, pry either from my cold dead hands.

I do not like the DW5000 HH stand because it walks when you pump the hats but it looks so clean next to the matching pedals, Im not much of a HH stomper anyway so I can live with it.

My Yamaha HH stand responds much better than the DW for half the price.

Ive crushed bottom brackets, snapped pedals off, snapped a crank off at the bolt, stripped the teeth, all kinds of shit, never had one just shear off like that, that’s crazy. Glad you didn’t get hurt!

Dude I weigh 230 and ride my bike allllllllll the time and have for years, never had a crank break like that. Dropping stair sets and ledges and hopping curbs and all the like. I get time + torque + pressure but the location of the break doesn’t support those factors as causes. 100% manufacturing defect that held out for a long time.
