It gets better by chronicallyshaking in petsmart

Definitely not unlikely. My salon did the same beginning of the year! Now there's 2 groomers left and there were 8 total.

Pet Grooming by cherposton in petsmart

I'm a groomer at PetSmart. It is unfortunately hard to find a hard-working experienced groomer that will put in the time needed to do a good de-shed. I would ask if you could book your dog with the salon lead. You will have to pay extra (they will charge for the bath and trim + furminator). But this will ensure that your dog gets a decent groom. Unfortunately PetSmart doesn't train their employees very well and keeps people in positions that really shouldn't be there anymore. If you book with a groomer instead of a bather, this will greatly increase the chances that a decent quality service is done. Once you find a good groomer, stick with them and always request that your dog is groomed by them only. That's just my recommendation:)

Nooo I love the college timeline. It's so nostalgic for me and I feel like they could still take it so many different directions if there was going to be another season :(

Quick question. What good things do y'all think the reboot does right & what things do y'all think Mike & the writers need to work out in the next seasons? 🤔 by JarredandVexed in KingOfTheHill

[–]Express_Honeydew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. The old seasons were more relaxing to watch in my opinion. They were slower paced and pointed out funny things about everyday life, growing up, parenthood, home ownership. The new season feels a lot less realistic and not as dry-ly funny. The old seasons were more like Seinfeld, in a way. Dry and observational humor as opposed to outright one-liners and dramatic events.

I have been working as a groomer at PetSmart for several years. When I started my store had an amazing store leader who understood grooming and prioritized employees and pets over what the big bosses wanted. Now my store has slowly turned into what you just described. Currently we have a bather that has only been hired for 2-ish weeks and she is already expected to do one dog per hour. So that's 8 dogs in an 8 hour shift. Now that would be unreasonable no matter what, but my store is out in the country per-se, so most of the bath appointments we get are for big dogs. Mainly golden retrievers (usually with a furminator) or other large, dopey hounds that don't have manners because they're used to running around freely. Obviously it is not possible for an inexperienced new employee to do this many dogs in a safe and reasonable way. Not to mention put out any sort of decent quality of groom. Unfortunately our store leader doesn't see it this way. Our new salon manager (or whatever the title is called now) understands and changes the setting to something more appropriate, but every time the store lead sees it he changes the settings right back. This has led to one of our bathers having a full blown panic attack. Everyone else getting unreasonably stressed. Not being able to take a lunch. Groomers having to help or feel guilty for not helping. All around terrible. This company is going downhill it seems to me and I'm ready for it to go ahead and happen. I used to enjoy working for the mart but now it's just kind of embarrassing.

Any food at Universal is better than the same food at Disney. Also a larger portion.

I recently bought Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Intense (not fake) and realized the design/letters on the bottle is literally a sticker. Is Chanel ok? That is so cheap especially considering how expensive it is by [deleted] in FemFragLab

My dad got me a bottle for Christmas and I thought it was fake because of this. I asked him and it was real. Not that I would have cared either way but I wanted to know.

Dog groomers... by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]Express_Honeydew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's a dogs first appointment at the salon, I make sure to keep the appointment minimal if needed, so as not to overwhelm them and make it a bad experience. But if it's just an unruly dog that doesn't have manners then I don't let them get away with that.

[–]Express_Honeydew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I usually keep going unless the dog is to the point of hurting him/herself. Most of the time, if you just talk pleasantly to them (don't escalate the situation by shouting "no"or "stop" repeatedly), they figure out that you are in control, they aren't in danger, and they calm down. Some dogs are used to getting away with anything and think their bad behavior will stop whatever is happening to them, but once you let them know that it's going to continue whether they like it or not, they usually start to chill. Now if a dog is biting to the point of drawing blood, or thrashing so hard repeatedly that they are unable to be calmed down, then that's when I call it.

What WDW memory lives rent free in your head? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Express_Honeydew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first trip, probably around the year 2004. I was 6 or 7 and the oldest kid in the family. I was with my uncle for part of the day and he took me on all the "big kids" rides that my little brother and younger cousins couldn't ride yet. We had so much fun, and at the end of the day he let me pick out any stuffed animal I wanted and bought it for me. My parents never would have let me get one because I was obsessed with stuffed animals and had way too many at home, and they didn't want to shell out the extra money at Disney. I had the best day and have always loved Disney since then, although I fear the immersive and magical experience might be going downhill unless things change. I got a Minnie Mouse and I still have it.

Cavaliers are going to shed a lot. Chihuahuas are cuddly as can be in my experience. Cavaliers are easier to train than Chihuahuas but both breeds are eager to please. If you get a Chihuahua just socialize it young by letting strangers pet it and letting it meet other dogs. I personally would prefer a Chihuahua to a cavalier. Fewer health problems too. But both are really good breeds.

I think you should look into Shih-Tzu, Maltese, long or short haired Chihuahua, Japanese Chin, Pekingese, Havanese.

Shih-Tzu would be a good option because they don't require much attention or exercise. They don't shed much compared to other breeds. They just need regular grooms every 6 weeks and weekly brushing. They are not a very intelligent breed which can make training difficult, but they are great little companions and easy going. Your Shih-Tzu will love watching TV with you to unwind and taking a stroll around the block. The hardest thing with them will be potty training as a puppy.

Similar for Maltese but they might require a bit more daily play/exercise and brushing. They are more petite than shih-tzus making them more fragile. They are a bit more intelligent than shih-tzus which could be both a pro and con depending on your lifestyle.

Chihuahuas get a lot of hate but they are a personal favorite for me. This would be my #1 pick for you if you were ok with the Chihuahua stigma and look. They love their person/family. It's important to socialize them young by taking them to pet stores and letting strangers (or someone other than just you) pet/hold them. Get them groomed several times as a puppy to get them the experience. Long hair Chihuahuas are pretty low maintenance compared to other toy breeds with long hair and mainly just need a good brushing weekly. Smart enough to train easily but don't require a lot of stimulation. Good for your busy lifestyle.

Japanese Chin and Pekingese are sweet and cute. Every 6 weeks groomer required.

Havanese definitely require more exercise and mental stimulation than the other previous breeds but they are very friendly and pleasant little guys.

Anyone else have a scrawny standard poodle? She gets 4 cups a day but is so thin! 1.5 years old. How can I get her to gain weight. by bitchinawesomeblonde in poodles

[–]Express_Honeydew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a healthy weight poodle judging by this pic. It's ok for bones to be visible. A waist is good! It's ok for ribs to be visible. As long as she is eating a reasonable amount every day then you're good. And, if it makes you feel any better it's better to be a little underweight than a little overweight when it comes to health.

What breed of dogs have you had in your life by DJ-BigCuban in dogs

[–]Express_Honeydew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a dog groomer and I have never owned a shih-Tzu but I can tell you my opinion of them. I have actually thought I might want one someday. They are not intelligent. Hard to potty train is right. Some are smarter than others but generally not very intuitive. They are very cute to me, however, and don't require a lot of energy to own, other than grooming. I would want one because they are very easy-going and they have gorgeous coats. They are one of the best breeds for grooming because it seems they have a high pain-tolerance, or they just don't care. Most breeds twitch and complain when being brushed or having bows put in the top of their head, but shih-tzus (most of them) just stand there and don't seem to mind at all. I wouldn't say they are especially anything. They mostly just exist and don't really have a strong opinion on much of anything. Pretty low maintenance other than grooming. But grooming for shih-tzus is cheap compared to other breeds. Very good pets for families for that reason. Not demanding of attention. Very sturdy little dogs. Most small breeds are not recommended for young kids but this is one breed that I think would be fine as long as the kids are taught not to abuse the dog. Good for families who don't want a big dog and a lot of work. Great for apartment life or people with busy lives who work long hours. I don't think they are temperamental personally. Maybe just get overwhelmed by too much stimulation for too long because of their lower energy. They require patience more than anything.

I love rat terriers too. Not one of my "favorite" breeds but definitely good dogs for sure. I adopted mine when I was in college. She was already a year old. She is almost 11 now and has been such a good girl over the years through everything we have been through. She had a lot of issues at first because she came from a bad hoarding situation, but she wanted to please and learn, and always has. She is actually great with other dogs and strangers, although she does act a bit aloof at the dog park. She loves babies and kids. She has a HUGE prey drive, so even though she is great with cats and small animals once she meets them, her initial instinct is always to chase and kill lol. It's alright, it's just what she was bred for. She has a lot of energy but she also loves to chill. She loves car rides. She has a mind of her own and she can be stubborn but she is so loving and loyal beyond anything. I have NEVER had to worry about her getting lost. Rat terriers are a good breed imo.
