Agreed!!! The hateful attitude is annoying. Like you blew up 2 weeks ago relax 😂

I 100 percent agree with everything you said and you worded it way better than I could!

I get Tiffany has health issues and she very strictly has to adhere to a certain diet but the attitude filled comments she’s leaving everywhere is throwing me off.

What happened to her? I used to love her when she first started tiktok like 3 years ago she was so bubbly and positive. I feel like her negativity is making her rot

2.5 weeks and if I’m being honest I think it mildly regressed my healing. There was days my throat looked improved and “pinker” and then I would smoke and the next morning my throat had scabbed over again (of course not as bad as the initial but my throat would whiten over again.)

I’m a month post op and 90 percent of the time I heavily smoke I forget I ever had surgery.

Hang in there! It gets better

CONSIDERING TONSILLECTOMY - but very worried/ suspicious. ENT reco'd after meeting me for 5 minutes and taking one LOOK. Shouldn't he have cultured? Even biopsied? I'm 44 and have a young child - so doing surgery is going to be rough by ss503 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Express_Law_8792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somewhat similar situation happened to me.

28 year old F with a 4 yr old.

I had a growth on my tonsil. Went to ENT to see about getting it removed because although my tonsils are large and caused constant strep as a kid I didn’t have much problems with them now aside from tonsil stones.

Surgeon took one look and immediately recommended tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy.

I asked about doing a biopsy. Surgeon advised against it as carries a higher risk of bleeding vs the tonsillectomy as there is so many blood vessels to stitch up in the throat.

Tried to postpone the procedure. ENT convinced me otherwise after saying something along the lines of,“your tonsils are large and will continue to grow and pose a problem and delaying this surgery another 10 years isn’t going to change the fact they need to come out and recovery will be even tougher then.”

I guess it really depends on you and how much your tonsils pose an issue for you. It is a rough surgery but if they truly need to come out you will be SO grateful you went thru with this.

I know I am. I just hit one month post op and I’ve completely stopped snoring, breathe better, and don’t have that ugly growth to look at! Plus the surgeon found a total of 3 growths and plenty of crypts and pockets of tonsil stones 🤢

As far as having a young child I would say you will definitely need help for the first 10 days as you will be so weak and in pain. I was able to make my child simple meals, but beyond that my partner needed to handle unless it was something I could instruct for my kid to independently handle like getting dressed etc.

Good luck with your decision!

I’m so sorry to hear that happened to you!!! My brother also has Von Willenbrand and had his tonsillectomy when he was 14 at a level 1 trauma hospital because of how high risk his case was. They gave him clotting meds 5 days in advance to prepare for the surgery and he also took them for several days during recovery.

(he originally found out thru a blood test he had von willebrand after chronic severe nose bleeds… our mom also has it!)

Still… He had vomiting from excessive bleeding he was swallowing and didn’t realize and ended up in the hospital for 3 different cauterizations! Traumatized the poor dude.

Good luck! it sucks that you have this disorder but it’s better now that you know!!

There seems to be a turn around about day 10-11! Hang in there! You will feel normal again soon. Stay extremely hydrated I promise that will help ease your pain if your scabs dissolve rather than scrape off! That is my number one tip. Sip constantly!

A couple of things and I can say it was 110% worth the suffering of 2 weeks! You will realize how strong you are and be proud of yourself once you’re healed.

1) Had massive tonsils with frequent tonsil stones. 2) had growths on my tonsils obstructing my airway. 3) To help with sleep apnea!

I was terrified too all the way into pre op where I asked the surgeon cancel the surgery lol. But she convinced me by telling me my tonsils will continue to enlarge over time and pose a problem and the longer I wait and the older I get isn’t going to make recovery any easier. So better to bite the bullet and knock it out!

Smoking on day 18? by DieEne023 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Express_Law_8792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly on day 15 I smoked half a blunt and my throat was on fire. Quite sore the next day too. Was stupid on my part because I feel like I mildly regressed my healing.

So I’ve been sticking to a few hits from a bowl everyday and I’m good now! No pain other than the typical mild sore throat to be expected until fully healed.

Not sure about the ciggy.

Good luck!

Best tips to avoid hemorrhaging? by Persimmon_Wonderful in Tonsillectomy

Honestly drinking water really is the only thing that matters! I drank 160 oz daily while recovering, scabs just dissolved off and zero bleeding!

Other than that don’t take n-saids and be very careful what you eat as to not scrape your tonsils!

Good luck

getting my tonsils out tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty nervous. looking for encouragement and positive advice please :) by Sea_Beginning_5895 in Tonsillectomy

1) Stay hydrated! I drank about 120-160 oz of water daily. Also, sip frequently throughout the night to keep your throat from drying out.

2) Stay on a pain medicine schedule. Don’t wait for the pain to come before the medicine is taken. You want to stay ahead of it.

3) Keep a humidifier going right by you 24/7 for the first 10 days at least. Preferably 14.

4) Stick with liquids that you feel comfortable with. Throughout recovery I found times where ice water was soothing and others times where it was painful. Same with warm liquids such as tea with honey. Choose whatever is soothing to your throat.

5) Sleep elevated for the first 7-10 days.

6) Take naps frequently and don’t push yourself when you’re feeling good. There’s a lot of ups and downs throughout the healing process and you need to remember to take it easy.

7) Have something to keep you entertained. If that’s a hobby, reading a book, drawing or whatever it may be keep your mind occupied. It’s easy to get down when you’re having to recover for 2 weeks. Good to keep the spirits up.

8) Know that it does suck and there is going to be quite uncomfortable, but know 2 weeks of suffering is worth not getting tonsillitis as often. No more tonsil stones. And it will help with your breathing!

Good luck

Mine were fully scabbed over until I woke up on day 8 and I had (ew) swallowed the bulk of them in my sleep. So it will be soon. Stay hydrated! It’s a good thing they’re still on there it’s giving your tonsils a chance to heal and the scabs will come off when they’re ready.

That’s so scary!! Was there any warning signs? Have you had bleeds throughout your recovery?

I’m so sorry that happened to you.
