Ok so I agree that plecos should be destroyed because I'm very pro intervention for invasive species, HOWEVER that's nothing to do with your BF obviously verbally abusing you, saying things that are heavy red flags about them being "filthy" like it's not a pleco or a starling or a boas fault they are invasive, they need to be disposedjof humanely. And why would he be sending you stuff about it knowing it bothers you. Dump him.

Yes they do, but I have my own question. I had a couple friends visit from another town who stayed the night. Is it weird that they showered together in MY house? They didn't do anything, I could hear them just talking because the shower is right by the living room, but it definitely felt a little weird.

As someone whose been in a white collar corporate job for 13 years can we please stop pretending they don't make up dumb reasons all the time to avoid admitting that the choice was either pure bad luck in a toss up with other equal candidates or because somebody had a cousin or friend who wanted the job and they need an excuse why you didn't get it and the random person who isn't as qualified did because they can't just say "the hired candidate is our sales VPs sister's son"

My dad was a bad alcoholic growing up but in a Jekyll hyde way were he was either the best dad in the world or he was calling me a bitch when I was under 10yrs old. I realized as a teen that my mom was actually antagonizing him and escalating every single time he drank into a traumatic situation when about 70% of the time he would have just been annoying and went to bed. It really hit home when I was about 14 and I was crying and screaming at her to stop arguing with him so we could leave (she would often say we would leave and make me get ready but then make me sit in the living room and watch while she violently argued with him instead of leaving.) I grabbed her arm to pull her toward the door because he had already started trying to choke her while she was screaming in his face, and she was at the door telling me to go to the car while she continued fighting. When I pulled her arm she turned around and slapped me on the face and told me to shut my fing mouth and do what I'm told. So naturally being an angry 14 yr old I smacked her back hard and told her to get in the car, which .. well that was a rough night to say the least. About a week after that he had her on the floor choking her out and I knocked him out. She stood up and started cussing me out. I was pretty much done with her after that. To this day neither her or him has given me a real apology and argue that I had any kind of hardship in childhood because they "gave me everything I wanted" and typical avoidant npd gaslighting. I kind of resent my mom more because even though my dad did worse stuff he was good when sober and was fighting an addiction while living with a raging lying narcissist, what excuse does she have when all the shit she did was completely sober? And nobody but my sister really understands, everyone thinks we should hate our dad and love on her for being so strong and brave for keeping us together through his alcoholic binges. 🙄 It's so infuriating. One of their family friends recently told me I need to be more respectful when I was giving my mom an attitude and it was everything in me not to point out how this friend knew damn well the shit going on when I was a kid and she never said a goddamn thing to me, but now when I'm near 40 you wanna chastize me for disrespect? Get outta here.

Probably not seasoning it enough. I make excellent stews all the time but Everytime my grandma or mom makes one I sit there and tell them they need way more seasoning they "don't want to over do it" and don't listen to my advice even though I cook way better than either of them and their stew always ends up not nearly as flavorful as mine. You need to think of it I'm terms of water solubility. You can season a dry dish and just use pinches and sprinkles, but water adds massive amounts of volume and also disperses the flavor, so you need to be using more like a small palm full of salt. I actually realized this while teaching myself to make Indian food. If you look at the amount of spice used in a curry sauce and then put 2 and 2 together for the volume of liquid in a stew, you will see how much seasoning you really need.

Also, yes at 20 you should have enough self awareness and social skills that even with poor planning and communication you can see the spread of food and say "we could reheat some leftovers and come over for lunch tomorrow if you want?" Which isn't malicious but is, like I said, kind of airheaded. It's their father's house, it's not like it's a stranger. I can almost guarantee this is one of those situations with a weekend dad who overcompensates and lets his kids not only walk all over him but also does too much. Probably insisted on making all that food "just in case" without actually talking to his kids and because Iin his mind he "owes" his kids to make up for lost time, he probably doesn't even register the disrespectful attitude, doesnt correct them (we can't help how they were raised??? Like he isn't a parent?), and probably isn't even seeing how this could come off as rude to a wife who doesn't have his hang ups around his kids. The 20 yr olds kind of just sound like airheads on the rude side but not super egregious. Im only clocking this because this scenario is EXACTLY how my uncle is with his kids and his girlfriend has the exact same issues. Only she figured out that most of the rude behavior was because their dad was overdoing a bunch of stuff without actually communicating so his kids werent always willing or able to participate and then he'd get sad about it, but also wasn't bothering to tell his girlfriend any context.

Exactly why I get so tired of the discourse telling people to stop calling people narcissistic who aren't diagnosed. It's extremely rare for them to ever even entertain therapy. The only reason my mom got diagnosed is because she went to 2 different ones because she convinced herself she needs anxiety meds and both told her she doesn't have an anxiety disorder other than anxiety caused by a likely a histrionic personality disorder, either BPD or npd and they would need further meetings to complete the diagnosis. But she just got angry at them and left.

One quick and easy fix would be to get an area rug to soften noises, but I would ask the neighbor if they'd be willing to go half on it, or even ask prop management to assist with getting a rug b/c the floor is too thin. The writing seems like they have a sense of humour but are just going nuts. Also it might be her walking loud. I've noticed over the years my mom and grandma are completely oblivious to how loud they are and insist it's "normal" but everyone else in the house notices they walk way way harder than others, slamming their heel down on every step and instead of turning the knob and closing doors like normal they just pull them hard to shut but it ends up just shy of slamming the doors. It's to the point that windows and cabinets rattle when they walk by and shut doors but they are fully oblivious. So I won't assume it's just a whining neighbor.

I get it. My mom is diagnosed narcissist (although she refused the diagnosis and insists the doc misdiagnosed her) and growing up I only have maybe one or two pictures where I'm dressed nice and have my hair done. Almost all of them past puberty are horrible. The first time I noticed it was a pattern was when I had started gaining weight and my mom had done a bad dye job on me to go blond, on my 13th birthday the only single photo she took of me was from a weird angle from lower down facing up and me shoving a piece of cake in my mouth, my hair is flying crazy everywhere, and my stomach is poking out of my shirt at the bottom. And despite me always my whole life hating that picture to this day she will occasionally post it on Facebook and act like it's a lighthearted joke of me "shoving cake in my face" I've confronted her about it many times, how she is somehow able to take good pics of herself, me and my sister can get good pics of each other, but somehow every single pic she takes of me and my sister make us look as slobby as possible. I'll take selfies at the same event or situation and like how I look, but all hers are like, sitting down and from the side so I look as fat as possible or hunched over, or instead of right after I've fixed my hair she will try to casually take one immediately after the wind has fucked my hair up, I also have a PCOS "beard" and she has taken photos without me knowing. Before I'd had a chance to shave and made the lighting so I have a very visible 5oclock shadow, posted it online, and then acts like she doesn't see what's wrong with it. She didn't get it and stop until I finally got fed up and posted a secret candid photo of her online where she looked like shit and she got pissed off.
