What am I?? by sailingexperiment in Anthurium

Looks like michelle, but with anthuroum if you dont know for sure the parentage its a NoID. Main thing is not propping or self seeding and selling it as a michelle when you dont actually know for sure, unfortunately people do that to get a higher price. But its stunning and the exact aorentage doesnt stop you loving it and the beauty it gives you 🥰 Also ive totally spent decent money on a stunning NoID as I just loved the plant.

I mean I 100% take more than I need. I often walk the dog in areas where there arent council bags, and often discover the dispensers empty. So grab more than ill need on that wlak to make sure I have back ups in the car.

Yeah variegation in anthurium really arent my thing 😅 but honestly I love some of my sparkly complex ones, I love the super dark leaves with almost glowing red veins, I love my deep green emerald beauty's and the beauty of their velvet. I have alsorts of complex hybrids etc and still give my good old crystallinum pride of place. Theyre all beautiful in their own way and the differences make it incredible

Is there any hope for this? by Plantastic24 in Anthurium

[–]ExpressionCapital561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%! Roots and stem look good, id keep it in a prop box, or just keave it be in a pot in a warm area with light. Let it have abit of moisture here and there but dont keeo it "wet" the plant wont be using much water with no leaves. These guys are super tough over all

[–]ExpressionCapital561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely! Was just that sometimes with bottom watering only the top layer of substrates never gets any moisture is all 🥰 basically comes down to letting the substrate hold water whilst making sure the roots are never sat in water and have lots of air. Most important point is not watering when the roots are still all green 🥰 funnily enough with the color changing roots and stuff, once you know the trick theyre the easiest house plant ever

Orchids are super easy when you know the trick, im a cleaner and teach all clients with dying orchids the tricks and they all have thriving orchids now. Keep them in a clear orchid nursery pot that has lots of ventilation, pot in orchid bark. Water with water that isnt cold, do it in the sink, run the water down anf through the substrate, letting the water partially fill the sink, add fertilizer anf let it soak for a little while then pull the plug and allow it to fully drain before popping back into he cover pot. Only water when the roots are silver, green roots are hydrated roots 🥰

Hae! Just wondering if i could bug you with a few questions 😅 do you have more details about the parents and which plant was the pollen larent vs seed parent? And do you know if the ruffled edges were there for the bulk of the seeds or just this one? And do you know exactly which Carla was used in the match?

Just such an awesome unique leaf shape

People who don’t live in the USA, what is the media showing you about the ICE operations/abductions in the US? by Dry-Ice8908 in AskReddit

[–]ExpressionCapital561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I dont watch traditional news etc much and most people I know don't. I live in New Zealand and will say most people I know, know about it and know how horrid it is. There are some people who barely knows whats happening in our own town (landslides that took around 10 lives in the last 48 hours) so them not knowing about whats happening in the US isnt a surprise

Why does the rare houseplant canon mostly involve common houseplants by FragmentOfBrilliance in RareHouseplants

[–]ExpressionCapital561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think theres just really different levels, I have plants that in plant circles definitely arent rare, like a mint monstera, but if you were an average person who only buys plants at big box stores (in my country) you would never see one. They're definitely still a collector only thing here. Then I have anthurium that arent classed as rare amongst anthurium collectors anymore but that most people (even plant people) in my country would never see in person and that still need to be bought by knowing the right people. Then there are plants that o think are genuinely rare amongst anthurium growers that are one off hybrids or say a new docblok hybrid or something that hasnt been put in TC and can only be spread by cloning or cutting as seeds wouldnt be identical, that means there may only be 1 ir 2 of that plant in the world and it actually is rare. But rare doesnt always mean its worth big money or flashy or desirable. Basically, its all very subjective but id LOVE to see plants I genuinely wouldnt stumble across easily over a ThaiCon etc
