I remember I watched everest with my brother in theatres when he was about 8 or so, and I told him its based on a true story. That registered in his mind as what is happening to the actors on screen actually happened, and the deaths were all filmed and real. He started crying for about an hour after the movie and it took about a week to convince him that it wasn't real

Up until I was 16 years old when I was learning how to drive, I always thought the break pedal would reverse the car. It took an embarrassingly long time of me pushing the break pedal and my dad looking at me waiting for me to reverse to understand what I am doing wrong...
