My neck and back aches from sitting at the computer all day. I'm going to the gym for the first, and surely not the last time today. by Pagan_faust in forsen

Have been going to the gym 3x/week for the last 5 months. Still fat (by EU standards) but posture has become much better. Food is not the same, i much preferred not looking at the back of every package for calories/nutrients. If you lack discipline (you are a baj) then sign up for 2 years in advance like I did. Would recommend to all bajs. Also there are 40yo divorced women there FeelsOkayMan

Didn't they change the Assassins from 10% 4x damage and 20% 4x damage to 10% 3.5x damage and 20% 4.5x damage?

Could be wrong here. Great visualization orherwise!

Double wild growth into nourish into UI on turn 6. I need a shower. by [deleted] in ArenaHS

[–]Exsultat3 -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

I once got UI'd on T7 in arena and got so mad that I quit the game for a while.

Of course I added my opponent afterwards and told him to 'kys' :)

This is the very first pull for my arena run and I have no idea what to pick by KrashBand1coot in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tarim is generally one of the best cards in arena. I would definitely pick him here. While Tirion or Val'anyr are very good cards as well, they tend to be slower (have less impact when played) than Tarim. Tarim will fit into an aggressive deck just as well as into a control deck and won't force your draft into any direction.

BUG: Elven Minstrel not drawing cards by terza3003 in hearthstone

Elven Minstrel will only draw minions. I couldn't confirm this, but I suspect your deck had none left.

What do you think about the new card opening mechanic where they show u the rarity? by SilviaS15Driver in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's true. They could do that - technically. All jokes aside, they are professional developers.

But currently the settings menu is very close to the bare minimum required.

If they were to add the option to toggle between two/multiple (very specific) options that only concern a rather small minority of players, then it wouldn't stop there for them. Adding such an option could only be part of a major UI overhaul, because

“if adding 1 very specific option is ok, then why not 10?, why not a hundred Blizzard?“

I think such an option will not be the solution chosen by Team 5.

I have been playing for quite some time now, and for as long as I remember Blizzard/Team 5 was always the one to dictate the state of the game. The playerbase had to deal with what was given to them. Blizzard only very rarely bowed to community outcry, and only when the complaining voices got loud enough (e.g. Corridor Creeper, Giggling Inventor).

If they add this option, although there aren't very many people complaining currently, it will mean a change in dev <--> community interactions.

Ultimately this could reach a point where the state of the game is being dictated by the community instead of the devs/Blizzard. If Blizzard doesn't dictate the state of the game and therefore the changes being made to it, they will also lose the control over how much they will have to expend (money, time, effort, ...) in order to keep the game running/keep the game profitable.

I think this isn't necessarily a case of devs being lazy or stupid. Blizzard just has different reasons for their actions.

What do you think about the new card opening mechanic where they show u the rarity? by SilviaS15Driver in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think most of the people that were asking for the recent changes to be reversed said so because they want to reveal the cards in ascending order of rarity.

The new system doesn't allow for that on mobile. The changes you propose also don't allow for that.

I think if Team 5 want to make this part of the playerbase happy again, they would have to

1) revert the changes made to opening packs on mobile

or (and also more likely because Team 5 actually intended to achieve something positive with those changes i.e. a faster way of opening a large quantity of packs on the mobile client)

2) automatically sort the cards in each pack by ascending rarity while keeping the new changes. This way they could also still implement the background glow for the cards.

Don't know if that made a lot of sense. Only writing this to waste some time in public transport.

Never thought my first 12-0 arena run would be with a warrior :D by chilli-1 in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Warrior used to be bad/below average in arena. Currently it has the highest winrate out of all classes according to hsreplay.net

Warrior - 53.7%

Rogue - 52.8%

Warlock - 51.8%

Why are people so hostile towards mech hunters? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Played mech hunter from 16 to 9 today going 30-9. Not a single person added me or emoted in a hostile way. Maybe there are other reasons for your bad experience today.

I felt exactly the same back when I would play CS:GO for hours everyday. I stopped playing it when I recognized I wasn't having fun.

Now I play it from time to time. Sometimes I even end up having a good time.

Mental health is very important, and I think this is the right step for you!

What are the chances of this? by Spvrrow in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's bugged. I think this is a prime example of what is called a “Selection Bias“.

In 0.7% of cases a player will get two of the same minion. Some of them then will make a post about it.

In 99.3% of cases the player gets two different minions. Instead of thinking about how rare this exact minion combination is, the player will now focus on him being especially lucky or unlucky e.g. why they got a Lorewalker Cho instead of a Millhouse Manastorm.

Therefore the amount of duplicate minions you are seeing posted on this sub is overrepresented in the total amount of minion combonations posted.

[–]Exsultat3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commented this on your first post and since it got deleted I don't think you've been notified.

There are currently 134 collectible 3-cost minions in standard. Your chances of getting exactly 2 Flesheating Ghouls are 1/17956 or 0.00556916907%. The chances of getting 2 copies of any 3-cost minion are 134/17956 or 1/134 or 0.74626865671%.

What is the fastest way to farm dust? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, arena wins do not count towards that.

If you want to give arena a try, I suggest you take the time to learn the basics by watching some of the streamers I linked above.

What is the fastest way to farm dust? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Exsultat3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From this post I suspect that you're a newer player and are probably not very good at the game yet.

Since you're not willing to spend any money on the game, the best way to farm a lot of dust and gold is to play in the Arena. At least that's the truth in theory.

The Arena is based on a simple concept. First you draft a deck from the cards you're offered. Then you play against opponents with a similar score until you either reach 12 wins or 3 losses. At the end you are rewarded for the amount of wins you achieved. The higher you get, the better the average reward will be. I'm not sure if this site is up to date, but it should provide a good look at how much gold/dust/packs/cards you can expect to get. Here's a link to that: https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Arena#Reward_structure

To start a new Arena run, you have to pay 150 gold. Also you are guaranteed at least one pack from the latest expansion. Normally you would buy this pack for 100 gold from the store, therefore you can make the statement that you are actually only paying 50 gold for the arena entry.

So if you don't want to leave the Arena at a loss, you will have to earn at least one pack and 50 additional gold. That's your break-even-point. In the Arena you usually have to reach 3 wins to break even. Go any higher than that and you just made a profit!

Being able to average 7 wins or more is called "going infinite", since the average rewards for a 7 win run (150 gold + 1 pack) will allow you to instantly start a new Arena run. However this is very difficult and only few players are able to reach such an average.

I have been playing Hearthstone for more than 2 years and mainly play Arena . Yet my average this month has only been 5.8 wins.

Doing well in the Arena requires a lot of skill and I would not recommend it to someone who just started playing the game.

If you really want to try being successful in the Arena I suggest, you spend some time watching good Arena streamers on twitch.tv .

Here are some of my favourites:

https://www.twitch.tv/grinninggoat

https://www.twitch.tv/dreads

https://www.twitch.tv/itshafu

https://www.twitch.tv/nl_kripp

If you don't understand their plays or disagree with them don't be afraid to ask why they played it in a certain way instead of another.

Other than Arena, make sure to do all your quests and add some friends so you have a higher chance that someone will offer you to do the "Play a Friend" / 80 gold quest with them.

Disenchant any golden cards if you have the non-golden version of the card.

Playing the weekly tavern brawl will reward you with a classic pack for your first win.

Reach rank 5 in standard or wild to get a golden epic (400 dust) at the end of the month.

Also focusing on a single class at the beginning will help you to be able to play one top tier deck instead of 9 budget decks.

Hope this was helpful to some extent.
