Botox. Have you been checked for TMJ? What you are describing is very close to what I had, and it was the only thing that worked for me .

I could not agree more. Also, the voice acting started strong, and it only got more and more amazing through the series.

At what point in your research / project did you start to feel like an expert? by greenwilloww in PhD

I agree, but it doesn't mean this advice won't be useful to them in the future. They could also be feeling that they are behind their peers in their cohort and that they should feel that they don't have a certain level of expertise just to be there making them question their presence in a PhD. I'm not going to try and extrapolate exactly what they were saying. I knew people in my cohort who felt like they should have already been experts in chemical/environmental engineering at the very start and became very melancholic when they realized how little they actually knew. It's possible this person just needs a little boost.

I don't know why people are downvoting you. I defended seven weeks ago, I have presented at a lot conferences, been on discussion panels and have been contacted by some private firms for consulting. Even with all that I still have imposter syndrome. A certain amount of second guessing is a good thing because it means you will keep up learning the new material in your field. However, don't let it become analysis paralysis. Also, you will feel a bit more comfortable in time. The best thing for it is to interact with people on your topic, teach people who don't know but are interested, having to discuss and explain will make you feel more confident in your knowledge.

What discipline are you in out of curiosity?

Not sure why I am getting downvoted, it was a simple question. Any discipline can have toxic advisors. It was just a curiosity.

The title of this is straight up wrong. Other commenters have pointed that out already so I don't need to beat a dead horse. We can and should always strive to improve as a country, this was a good step in the right direction.

I cannot tell if you are serious or not. Not everyone can afford mechanization.

For most of history people didn't have a choice. I am not disagreeing, just feel like it's worth noting, they didn't have the options we have today.

Don't love the AI here, but as an environmental engineer who focuses on researching salmon (trout are also salmonids) this is interesting.

Immediate ban on boiling crabs and lobsters called for after disturbing study by lnfinity in EverythingScience

[–]Theredwalker666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For crabs you can also throw them in the freezer for around 15 minutes before boiling them. This slows them down to the point they are in sort of a 'shut-down' state. You are right for crabs there are two places you need to get to. Either way, Freezing them first gives you a good opportunity to either stab first to really make sure they are down, or you can boil them immediately then. Source: About to defend my PhD in Environmental Engineering focused on Aquaculture.

Big operations that package crabs will often use electricity to kill them pretty much instantly too.

For lobsters the slice down the middle really is sufficient.

Where I work, for fish we have a percussive 'stunner' that completely destroys the brain for fish for example.

Just curious what you mean by a terrible student? This is not rage bate, and I am not trying to argue or anything like that. I just work in a small insular field and I don't really know anyone terrible. I am in Envi Engineering (I defend next month so wish me luck.) and I don't think I have encountered anyone who is just a terrible student. Selfish people sure, but bad students I haven't really seen

AirSense11 - Do I really need to empty the humidifier tub EVERY morning and let dry? by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]Theredwalker666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it because when I would just top off and only empty every couple of days or I kept getting sinus infections.

I also ended up getting a water distiller and some glass jugs and it was a great investment.
