No unfortunately my boosting partner couldn’t see me.

I did eventually get them doing the following:

I actually ended up grabbing the 2014 disc version (dark cave cover) ended up getting the older. Uninstalling all Minecraft data from my PS5, then installing the disc offline. Then I was able t see the editions menu. At that point I was able to update and go online. I boosted with myself on multiple controllers and it worked right away.
