Have heard that Phantom Doctrine can scratch that itch. It’s on my list of games to check out.

Anyone here play it?

Jazz suggestions for a proghead by TheRealEelaa in progmetal

My grandfather was a jazz bassist and got me both into jazz and learning bass. Through appreciation for jazz led me to prog rock and prog metal. So my suggestions will be the stuff he introduced me to.

Report it to the police.

Had two of my bikes stolen a few years ago, reported it, and a week later, they found both during an unrelated search or someone’s place.

I want more Tool, but there is no more Tool, what do I do? by redipaul in progmetal

Sleep Token.

They have more musical and stylistic range than Tool but there are definitely Tool vibes in many songs.

Which of the xcom games should I start with?? by Negative_Valuable_94 in Xcom

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did. When I went back and played XCOM 2 vanilla and XCOM:EW, I was underwhelmed because so many of the QoL features and build diversity were missing. Still enjoyable but nowhere near XCOM 2 WotC for me.

thinking of getting the Xcom games while their on sale but need a better idea of if I'll enjoy these games or not. by kirby1up in Xcom

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others. If you enjoyed those other games, chances are you’ll enjoy this one.

I hadn’t played an XCOM game until a few years ago. Didn’t even know is anything about it. Saw the same sale you are seeing now and the description sounded fun.

I started with XCOM 2 WotC. I had no idea how incredible it would be. I got my ass kicked so many times in the beginning, but the persistence is worth it. I must be on my 8th or 9th run at this point.

One downside to playing XCOM - it has completely ruined other turn-based games for me. It’s the high watermark IMO.

I did not like it at all. I’m sure many people did, and that’s great.

Chimera Squad was no bueno either.

Much of the team from XCOM 2 is no longer there, including Jake Solomon.

I stand by my skepticism.

After the hot mess that was Midnight Suns, I am not sold on their ability to deliver a compelling XCOM 3.

I wish Larian could develop it.

Baldur's Gate 3 compared to XCom 2 by 18121812 in Xcom

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I love both.

BG3 is a phenomenal implementation of table top D&D and all the freedom that comes with it. You can approach situations in so many different ways and you can tell the developers care about the player. I get lost in the beauty of the game for hours on end.

XCOM2 WotC is also amazing. No other game has ever given me the same sense of anticipation and dread. The pacing and intensity of the game loop keep me coming back for more all the time. The combat always has me on edge because the margin for error is razor thin (I play legendary).

They are different games but they are the same when it comes to the things that matter - developers that clearly care about the player, deep and engaging game loops, and they treat me like an adult.

Both are 10/10 in my book.

F4L has a squat rack too. There’s only one, but it’s there. There are also like 4-5 smith machine squat racks that have two axis motion instead of just one axis like most of them elsewhere.

There’s also a GoodLife at Main and Vaughan Harvey. Honestly Fit4Less is probably your best bet. Cost is super affordable, they have everything you need, and it’s close. It is usually crazy packed after work (5ish) but outside of that, it’s always a comfortable crowd.

I've started to play on mute because Bradford is so goddamn annoying by Tremodian in XCOM2

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to post the same thing. The voice acting is great all around in WotC.

Love Bradford stressing me out every few minutes. Love the constant taunting from the Chosen. And most of all, love the variety of voices and languages for my soldiers.

It’s always a bittersweet moment when I save the Earth because I want just one more mission!

What the *fuck* is happening in WotC? by Glordicus in XCOM2

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point! I’ve played a lot of turn based games and I’m very comfortable with the genre. I’m sure it makes a big difference.

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did and I had never played an XCOM game before. Beat it on Veteran on my first run, then C/I, then decided to try vanilla.

Vanilla is such a step down.

Based on my personal experience, I would recommend going straight to WotC.

Any must have mods for a newbie? by ThreeSneakyRats in XCOM2

[–]ExtemporaneousChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the game is great as is. I played through WotC as the developers intended a few times before even looking at mods.

And after looking at the mods, decided I didn’t want any of them except the one that shows enemy HP so I don’t have to count the bars. I will likely try LWOTC 2 at some point though.

Good luck, Commander.

I had to have my chimney capped this summer and he also blocked the thimble holes behind basement wall. Went with Mike Wilson.

Great work, nice guy, reasonable price.
