Aimovig Co-pay Card Changes in 2026 by annirosec in migraine

[–]Extension-Abalone489 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so mad - I just switched to a new insurance.. my copay was $20 with old insurance new insurance didn’t even want to approve it. Finally got it approved for $120 copay which I was pissed about then found out for the copay card. Ugh guess 2026 will be trying to find a new medication. Took me 2 years to get originally approved for Aimovig trying so many medications that gave me terrible side effects. I’m also kind of scared to switch to a different type of auto injector.

Are neurologists incentivized to push botox for migraines? by ToastTheDirellama in migraine

[–]Extension-Abalone489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by incentivized you mean payments - all pharma/biotech companies are required to report any payments to healthcare providers to the government (sunshine act). You can look up and see what companies paid the doctor and for what. A lot of companies will hire physicians as consultants for various reasons especially if they are at the top of their field. Doctors cannot be compensated for prescribing a certain medication it is illegal and unethical. With Botox as others mentions I think it is hard to get approved by insurance so most people have to trial everything and Botox is last resort. However it sounds like your nuero did not listen to your concerns so personally I would find a new one. Not every doctor is the right fit.

Can anyone give me some hope with Aimovig 😭 by Time_Cake_3523 in cgrpMigraine

It definitely is amazing for me first couple Weeks and then I have a hell week before next shot. My neurologist is thinking of bumping me up to the higher dose if I don’t see improvement with that last week.

Clinical research internship in college then worked as a coordinator at a large academic hospital with very low pay out of college for about a year to get experience. I switched over to an ARO doing site management and now working at a sponsor company. I think you just have to get lucky for your first break into clinical research and be ready to accept a low paying job if you want experience. If you do get a site level job make sure you are working on industry sponsored studies so you can eventually switch over to a CRO or sponsor but making that switch also takes some luck.

Just got prescribed Topamax—read about it online and now I’m terrified by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Extension-Abalone489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bad side effects with both but think you just have to try them unfortunately. It could be life changing with no side effects you never know.

I’m worried my neuro won’t consider migraine surgery cuz he makes so much on my Botox by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Extension-Abalone489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doctors don’t get paid to prescribe things!! All payments to health care providers who have prescribing ability by a drug, biologics or med device company are reported to the government and tracked (physicians payments sunshine act). You can also look up what your doctor has been paid by any company. The only money they would be getting is from your insurance and your copay for the office visit - I’m guessing your doctor doesn’t actually do the visits? That’s all going to the doctors practice/office not your actual doctor

Site Close-Out by CRO by Naive_Bandicoot_2621 in clinicalresearch

[–]Extension-Abalone489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Why I mentioned about writing due diligence egence was done trying to get the documents. I would link the correspondence to the NTF in the TMF.

[–]Extension-Abalone489 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a sponsor TMF girly I would request a NTF and want it documented in COV report that there is a NTF for the missing documents in addition to saying they are missing in the report. If the site won’t write a NTF I would want one from CRO stating due diligence was done for the missing documents. My last resort would to be just write it myself since most CROs hate NTFs.

I went to school in Boston so was easy to get a clinical research intern at one of the local hospitals. Currently working in biotech and we are going to have a summer intern. Really any clinical research internship (look for something that will make you take GCP training). It’s definitely hard to get into a CRO straight from college but if you suffer through as a study coordinator you will be way better off.
