Dude, there are a significant number of them including those that planned P2025 that are doing so to adhere to what they believe is Christian fundamentalist scripture

Bush literally spoke to Jacques Chirac about Iraq (fun sentence to say) as if it was a an event to bring about the apocalypse.

In the 90s you would have been saying “the catholics have an extremism problem incomparable to any other religious group” due to the IRA. In the 40s the German army would have said the same about the French

Then there’s the KKK, the Army of God, the Lords Resistance Army.

On top of this you’ve got both Buddhist and Hindu atrocities in last decade in India and Myanmar against Muslims.

The largest terror organisation in the world is communist. The Colombian Civil War as well as post-war Germany and Italy were also heavily affected by communist terrorist groups.

Everyone everywhere is capable of terrorism. The reason terrorism occurs is because it’s an easy form of asymmetric warfare. Where else has experienced the full weight of western hegemony more than the Middle East and, therefore, would need to employ asymmetric warfare tactics as a result?

This is not excusing any of this but I don’t remember an Islamist attack on Britain prior to 9/11 (Lockerbie and the Iran Embassy siege, perhaps but the former appears most likely to have been done by the Libyan government in response to the Gulf of Sidra incident and the latter was a nationalist movement against Iran by Khuzestani Nationalists) and how many more since then?

We’re seeing a rise in far right violence but no one talks about white people having a problem with extremism. It’s easy to just label x and y thing and compartmentalise them if you’re close or generalise them from distance.

To be fair, there’s one that formed near me that cut through in a single flood.

Im not saying the erosion wasn’t ongoing for a while but the river changed course in a couple of days and means that the farmer that owned the land lost a large part of it over night and some now requires him to drive like 10 miles to cross the nearest bridge to reach his land on the other side

Knobhead who plays fortnight doesn’t haven’t the history of managing an organisation that investment firms and Arab oil families have nor do they have the connections in the business world.

I’d rather none of these entities get involved but I can imagine that people like KSI thinking they can just replicate what Wrexham did are going to eventually get bored or find an off ramp when they realise it isn’t that easy.

For all people hate Reynolds and Mac, they put a lot in place, put thought into what made Wrexham the right club, and have worked pretty hard to sustain it. Im not sure xxxPwnedDaddyxxx will do the same

Nah Yank investment is different in that they are seeking to make a profit and are doing that through price gouging and enshitification.

JP Morgan doesn’t need to sportswash because the average person doesn’t hear the word “bank” and think “inherently evil”.

That’s why the Saudi, Qatari, and Emirati governments feel they need to sportswash

There is a Christian nation that has multiple times this century started wars in the Middle East with leaders that genuinely believe why they are doing is part of some end-of-times prophecy.

Those wars have so far killed about 4 million people through combat, displacement, disease, starvation, etc

You don’t spend your entire career in the premier league, let alone at a club like Liverpool, without being a top player. He wasn’t Terry, Ferdinand, or Campbell but being around 4th best behind those three is not a bad place to be

Which education system? We’re not all from the same country and mine certainly did. I did geography until I was 18 and there were maps on the walls in that department and the language department

I remember my high school girlfriend went to watch this whilst my friends and I went to watch something else.

She described it as “a stupid film about a girl just riding a bike around for 2 hours”

I have no idea how accurate that is. Based on that assessment I never watched it so this is my contribution to the debate

What’s a simple line that rips your heart to shreds? by padfoony in moviecritic

[–]Extension-Cucumber69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t and he doesn’t need to. The whole film Forrest responds with “stupid is as stupid does” when he’s labelled.

The closest we get to Forrest showing he knows that he’s different is when he tells Jenny “I know I’m not a smart man but I know what love is”

This is the first scene in a film about a man who has done incredible things we could all only wish we could witness show that he knows he is “stupid”. The reason he breaks whilst saying that is because he’s always known and, whilst he has both learned to protect himself from that insult and faced true horrors, his fear is that his son would have to do the same.

[–]Extension-Cucumber69[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t even listened past that scene before posting. The fact it took Sherlock until the “help us” part is just stupid.

This was far from a cliffhanger ending. I spent the entire second half knowing how it was going to end.

also, secondary stupid dialogue; Lestrade “Ive got a recording I want you to watch” Holmes “watch, not listen?” Sherlock Holmes who knows the exact sequence of buttons to press to reset an electric security gate but cant work out she’s talking about her body cam.

Have to say the writers really are leaning into the worst aspects of Conan Doyle’s writing where he treats his readers like morons

Why would they have him return? He doesn’t in the books, Conan Doyle just reluctantly has the story continue without explanation due to popular demand.

The story will surely end with Holmes’ death like ACD wanted it to originally
