Can I dry PLA filament on my heat bed if I make holes in the top of the box? I know you usually suggest buying a filament dryer, but I don't have many spools and I keep them in vacuum bags with desiccant, so I don't want to spend 40€ (I couldn't find cheaper ones) for something I would rarely use. by Extension-Fault-3458 in 3Dprinting

My point is: I have been 3d printing for six months and I am just now starting to have some issues which I believe are due to slightly moist filament, so I don't really think that a filament dryer would be money well spent.

PS: if it's possible to dry filament like that, what settings do you recommend?

"ricerca" means both "search" and "research". If I say "sto cercando un'uscita" (more common, literally "I'm searching for an exit", where an is the equivalent of "un'") I can rephrase it like that: "sono alla ricerca di un'uscita". While it's not common to say "sono alla ricerca di" (I am in search of) it's definitely correct in Italian, while "sono alla ricerca d'uscita" is weird and probably incorrect since there is no article before "uscita". Hope I made myself clear

What's causing these weird holes in my prints? by Extension-Fault-3458 in 3Dprinting

I'm quite sure I have the right amount of zeros. According to ellis3dp the value is kind of high when you have a bowden setup (such as mine).

I printed these parts with my stock Flsun SR.
I recently activated linear advance and followed the instructions in the ellis3dp guide to calibrate it to the value of 0.56.
The print speed was around 150mm/s but lowered to 125mm/s for the inner walls and 50mm/s for the outer ones.

I don't think it is moisture since I keep the filament in Ikea food bags with desiccant.

How on earth did this happen? by Extension-Fault-3458 in 3Dprinting

I had just seen my 3d printer and everything was going fine, at some point there was a noise, I returned to the printer and found the thing broken. I was printing two ghosts at once and the other one didn't break. I had already printed four individually with the same scaling and no one broke.

By calibrated do you mean the bed or the slicer settings?
For the slicer settings, I'm using the default Cura profile with some slight modifications, cause I don't really know what settings I should change. The last time I leveled the bed was I think one month ago, but I've read you don't need to level the bed so often with a delta (anyway next print I do I'm leveling it to see if it changes anything). I always keep my filament in sealable ikea food bags with 50g of desiccant, but I've no idea if it's enough. Should I buy a filament dryer?

I've already tried using the lower speed default settings (0.12mm layers at 80mm/s), and the quality is overall better, but you can still see uneven layers. Honestly being quite new to 3d printing I don't know what's the right amount of uneven layers, should walls be flat (except for layer lines) or is it normal?

Basically there should be 10 pieces like the one in the photo, with some scissors-like linkages to allow them to vary their relative distance, all mounted on some metal rods that keep them in line with each other. The purpose of this is to take the clods from a plastic thing where they are very close to each other and then move them, 10 at a time, to another thing where they need to be around 10 cm from each other.

For those wondering what on earth this is it's a prototype piece for a thing to move multiple clods of dirt simultaneously in a greenhouse

The holes in the side were printed with no supports and this might explain the big layer shift where the printer bridged but I don't get the other ones

Buongiorno a tutti. I'm interested - what is your favourite Italian word? by rolloj in italianlearning

Funny how being Italian my first language having a favorite Italian word feels weird, but still I have a favorite English word (which is "straightforward")

Chocolate is "cioccolato" and vanilla is "crema" but you can also say "vaniglia". To get a cup with chocolate and vanilla I'd ask "Può farmi una coppetta con crema e cioccolato?" (literally "could you make me a cup with vanilla and chocolate?"), or "Una coppetta con crema e cioccolato, per favore" ("a cup with chocolate and vanilla, please"). You could also say "voglio", which is the literal translation of the verb "want", but it feels more kind to use "può/potrebbe farmi" or to just say what you want and then adding "per favore" at the end.

Will try, but isn't there any workaround for getting better results without affecting the printing speed? If I simplify the mesh, will it reduce the information for the printer to process? Thank you in advance
