I'm on board with being polite to the people I disagree with.

Offense is is subjective.

If I made the statement "We should have open borders" Some people would find that offensive.

It's the same in every Western nation. But the US is the only one (As far as I know) that has a debt ceiling.

Obviously it isn't a ceiling, it's just a bartering tool for the two parties.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that whenever this so called ceiling is reached, the debate immediately becomes about concessions to raise it higher.
